Why is Hollywood suddenly so obsessed with mining videogames for ideas, and more importantly, making sure they get it right?

We get some industry perspectives, including BAFTA Award-winning actress of film, TV, and games Jane Perry (Hitman, Returnal)
Videogames Are a “Natural Goldmine” in Film Industry’s Hunt for the Next Great IP
"What we're seeing in games now are really sophisticated narrative designs," says actress Jane Perry. "The same ingredients that would make a great film or TV series."

Today, Paste Magazine shuttered all its non-music verticals, a choice I am both professionally and personally heartbroken about. Sadly, I am once again looking for a place that wants to let me write about Books and TV on the regular, so hit me up if that’s you or anyone you know.

@iwgbunion.bsky.social i love talking to unions i love writing about unions i love unions
The Independent Workers' Union has held a second Rockstar Games protest in London.

"The strength of feeling that people show up with to defend their co-workers… is not a thing that Rockstar and Take-Two can ever understand," said the organiser.

British Workers Union Stages Second Rockstar Games Protest, Calling Out "Culture of Fear"
The union general secretary called the Rockstar layoffs a "violation of employment law" and said the IWGB is "open to discussions."

What the heck is this BLIPPO+ thing from @panic.com? Is it even a game? We talked to one of the collaborators behind it, the dance-pop band YACHT, to try and find out.

Did we get answers? Uh, kind of?
We Talked to YACHT To Try and Understand 'Blippo+'
Alien channel-surfing sim Blippo+ asks players to "expand their idea of what's possible" in games. We ask co-creators YACHT what that means.
