Well, the work reading plan A has failed as I should have downloaded the PDF to read offline last night (the train Wi-Fi just isn’t cutting it). Plan B it is, then! Hello, Moon Over Soho!

The hope of all single train passengers: that hope that the person in the seat next to you doesn’t turn up. I have space, at least until York. Also, I note that LNER has given up on the whole Quiet Coach nonsense - it’s only “Quieter” now (it’s not)

Underway! Travelling backwards but I’ll either be reading or dozing, so I don’t really mind

Breakfast scoffed, so waiting for my train. LNER seem to be running a bit late (couple of minutes). I would usually catch the next train in so it feels weird not dashing for the platform!

Yay! Half past stupid o’clock, we meet again!

Seriously, though, I just need this post-Covid cough to sod all the sodding way off. I have to keep resorting to my blue inhaler, which is really unusual for me.

LFT is negative, so packing has been completed to the point that it can be. I’ve got to take the medium suitcase because I have so much stuff to deliver to other people. I’m also staying a day longer than usual and I’ve remembered to pack slobbies for set up.

Signal boosting!
Hey all, do I have any UK based concept artists following me (or who knows anyone) who would be up for a long term 22 month contract working on Dragonwilds at Jagex? Remote with a very occasional day in office in Cambridge. Development experience and fantasy genre work is a must. Mid level role.

Poddling on with the scenario I'm reviewing. The sooner I finish, the sooner I can finish up packing for Dragonmeet. Also the inevitable pre-travel LFT, just to be on the safe side.

There was much sorting, and even some rudimentary packing before I just couldn’t be bothered anymore. Presents to wrap and cards to write tomorrow night, as well as the actual packing. Now, though, it’s time for a cup of coffee and a quiet read.

Letting my tea settle, then it will be diving into the uncharted territory of the back bedroom to see if the clothes I want to take to Dragonmeet are clean. It’s a bit late to wash them if they’re not, but at least it gives me time to come up with alternatives! Also: books…

If you find an indie game you like, PLEASE talk about it on social media. You can make a developer go from being completely unknown to actually able to make money just by spreading the word.
The fact that itch posted this and not even an hour later I got a bunch of new sales proves how big it is when other people talk about your games.

It can literally be a life changing events.

When John Harper made a nice quote tweet about Breathless, hundreds of people looked at the game.

A corollary to "please talk about indie games you like on social media" is: "Virtually all games are indie games." D&D and Catan probably don't need your marketing boost, but you can assume almost everything in the games hobby does and, honestly, creating new D&D and Catan players doesn't hurt.

Today is determined to keep me from reviewing this scenario. It’s already had to wait because of me catching Covid, and I don’t want to keep the author hanging on any longer than is necessary

Up until a few years ago, this was me. Hublet had a good job and we had savings, so we could afford for me to quit a job I’d come to hate and start writing full-time. While I get paid a good wage now for what I do, I’m mostly *not* writing - it’s predominantly editing and admin
1. I see elsewhere on Bluesky that the discourse has turned toward telling writers not to be ashamed to admit they have day jobs or other sources of income (or spousal/family financial support), and you know what, that's 100% correct. Day jobs and support from loved ones are great if you have them!

Watched the first two episodes of Watson, the latest Morris Chestnut series. Oh dear. Very disappointing.

Checking my train ticket for the trip down to Dragonmeet & I realised that last week when someone asked me when I'd be arriving, I'd accidentally opened last year's ticketing email. I'm sure I would have noticed before Friday, but it does mean that I'll be in London an hour earlier than I thought!

Today looks like sorting out a couple of (hopefully) minor things followed by reading through a first draft and giving feedback. Even though I’ll be at Dragonmeet, as I’m not running any games, Con prep is basically laundry and packing!

Kantha in Bengali means cloth, traditionally made from the best parts of old worn saris or dhotis. Also the name of a way of stitching in which variations of running stitch are worked though all the layers of cloth, quilting them together, creating intricate designs #WomensArt
