“I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.” (Stephen Jay Gould)
This column on Vox is the biggest pile of steaming AI crap I've seen this year. Human's aren't running out of ideas. Instead, those with power and money don't want to listen to ideas that threaten their power and money.

Ideas are plentiful. Putting those ideas into action is the hard part.
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

The only person who MUST read the Atlantic is Michael Hobbes, and that’s presumably due to a curse from an angry ghost or something
one more time for the cheap seats: The Atlantic is easily the worst magazine in America. stop trolling yourselves! you don't have to read it! it will die if you don't!

saw an old post making a joke about paul williams's work on Muppet Christmas Carol and his drug/alcohol abuse, and I'm not here to put anyone on blast about it but as an addict myself, it's important to me that Paul's recovery was a huge part of what inspired him www.vulture.com/2017/12/the-...

See, valve famously has a flat structure where people work on whatever they want to. So we just have to wait for someone to roll their desk over to the “giving a shit about bigotry” corner, and
Valve has now rejected my complaint, confirming that "I don't like muslims" is a valid reason to leave a negative review on a game on Steam

This is where we're at now.

I had a joke review for Kingdom Come Deliverance removed for racism. It was the phrase “white people be filthy as fuck” and a positive review. I think of that every time a story like this comes up. Which is oddly often lately

Finally this has hit YouTube! I watched it earlier this year with my partner (an STS scholar) and we both agreed that it’s an excellent/creative way of exploring the problem of technological masculinities. Plus it’s a wild story that’s relevant to the here and now. 10/10, highly recommend

this scam is particularly effective because the scammers imitate Michael’s standard email greeting: “I’m Michael Hobbes - yes, THAT Michael Hobbes.”
Scam alert: Someone is pretending to be me and reaching out to authors. The pitch contains enough specific details that it sounds plausible at first.

This is not me! I'm so sorry to anyone who has fallen for this.

I sort of wish y'all took this more seriously, because this attitude is a reinforcement of heterosexuality as a hierarchy. It's an acknowledgement and understanding that it's not enough to "be with" a woman, or even to father children.

They define manhood as exploitation, abuse, and dominance.
"Everything straight is actually gay" is my favourite kind of ragebait posts by these morons.
