Do not socialize with redhats. Do not invite them inside your home. Do not go on dates with redhats. Do not hold the door open for them. Pretend you cannot hear their questions or requests. Pretend you cannot speak English. Stare at them blankly. Every single interaction with them is now a fight.

"If we Europeans do not wake up and say, ‘We want to take back control of our democracies,’ I can tell you this: within 10 years [...] we will be a continent, like many others, of conspiracy theorists, extremists, noise and fury."

"Europeans, let's wake up!" — Defend Democracy

People saying Trump is dying or possibly dead, but I for one would urge caution, because it is quite possible a second healtbar will appear as he enters his second phase and a gargantuan centipede will burst forth from his torso, so be careful of his new sweep attacks and toxic buildup from bites.

Fascism is here. We are not “getting closer” or “in danger of.”

This matters because it frames our discussion: We aren’t trying to prevent it, we’re trying to defeat it. It’s not taking over our institutions, it’s taken them over.

Otherwise, we’re always behind, fighting a past we’ve already lost.

As the world hurtles ever closer to nuclear oblivion, where is the opposition? | Simon Tisdall
The puerile standoff between the US and Russia ought to alert a slumbering public to a risk that is in many ways greater than during the cold war, says Simon Tisdall, a Guardian foreign affairs commentator

NEW: We’ve documented nearly 50 incidents of immigration officers shattering car windows to make arrests — a tactic experts say was rarely used before Trump took office.

ICE claims officers use a “minimum amount of force.”

You can judge for yourself.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Thinking about the tut-tutting Democratic politicians who spent their two years in power warning that Supreme Court expansion was too radical an idea to even think about taking seriously. You absolute fucking rubes. You gigantic, credulous losers. I hope you are ashamed of yourselves today.

Federal district courts have ruled against Trump admin 94% of the time.

Supreme Court has sided with the Trump admin 94% of the time.

Trump is back — and with him, the risk that the U.S. could unplug Europe from the digital world.

If the _only_ thing we got from the EU and all the membership fees paid were the longest period of peace most European countries have been fortunate to enjoy, the money would’ve been extremely well spent.

EU is a peace project first and foremost - but so much more too. Our last, best hope even?

Anyone Trump-aligned or Trump-adjacent is toxic to the rest of the world. We are the only country with enough people that think the malignant narcissist, criminal, and moronic two-bit con man should be in charge. It’s the same reason why televangelists have always thrived here.

The story of Trump is not the story of a dictator savant, it's the story of a society whose elite power centers are all rotted from within and collapse at the slightest push. Very hard to know right now if there are any load-bearing walls left.
conversely, the second you give in to him on anything, he senses weakness and keeps demanding more and more

the only viable response to Trump is to loudly and fully stand up to him from the start - whatever consequences he is able to impose will pale in comparison to giving in
Trump’s sputtering response to Harvard standing up to him is yet another reason why institutions should refuse to bend the knee. He’s a paper tiger, unable to argue his own case.

Yes, it’s a bit hard to see now, but allowing the president to become a king who can kidnap citizens while also demolishing the global financial system is a small price to pay for getting to keeping 23 trans women from playing college sports.
