Worth remembering that something did happen: the journalist who revealed this died from a car bomb.
remember when the panama papers came out and we found out every rich person on earth was committing tax fraud and then nothing happened

welcome to the trap that will ensnare every liberal this year: abolish ICE is rapidly becoming a red line for people, much like ending the genocide was in 2024. you will either comply or you will lose
“Abolish” or “defund” aren't within grasp in 2026. But where are:

- End qualified immunity
- Rewrite use-of-force so this crap isn't ruled “within policy”
- Overturn July 8 mandatory detention memo
- Reinstate TPS
- Open up detention centers, enforce humane conditions

He doesn’t even *ask* for it.
Chuck Schumer just announced demands on DHS to avoid shutdown:
1. End roving patrols, tighten rules on warrants
2. Enforce accountability & unified code of conduct for agents
3. No more masks & require bodycams

There are *already* standards on much of this.

The issue is DHS isn't following them!

A five-year-old boy seized on his way home in Minnesota and now locked up in Texas. His family didn't know where he was for 24 hours.
Here’s the report from KARE. The boy is five-year-old Liam Ramos.

I refuse to let this era be defined by the sick villains and spineless cowards. We are surrounded by everyday heroes and they will keep emerging.
Damn this video of a observer/protester climbing a ladder to hand blanket to the construction worker who was surrounded by ICE.

There can’t be a more horrific insight into the sickness of the US’s gun crime epidemic than the fact two survivors of Brown University had already survived school shootings. One was shot in the abdomen in 2016, while her best friend died. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

The anti-Semitic mass shooting in Australia will cause a national conversation and policy change. We know this because the 1996 Port Arthur massacre led to significant restrictions on guns.
The shooting at Brown will do nothing. We know this because it occurred on the anniversary of Sandy Hook.

Hm. Uber still operates at a loss.
However, it has succeeded at a larger goal that benefits the ownership class: destroying and decimating public transit; deprofessionalizing jobs; creating an ever-larger pool of underpaid, unstable gig jobs that harm the entire working class.
The thing frustratingly not talked often about with AI is what its true costs will be. Companies are operating at such a GARGANTUAN loss right now, that even if they got AI working 100%, the cost to break even could prevent common implementation by a generation or two. It just may not be feasible.

This op-ed glosses over 2020 and the Gaza protests too quickly. You can't understand why so many young people aren't in the streets without a deep dive into both.

As winter flooding looms, it's worth noting that a young street tree in an asphalt surface can prevent 60% of the rain that falls on it from reaching the ground, even when not in leaf.

Increasing the low levels of urban tree cover should be a strategic national priority.
