BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

"Don't let them bury my story."

Rest in power to Viola Ford Fletcher, who spent years fighting for justice for all those harmed by the Tulsa Race Massacre—from 1921 to the present day.

We owe it to Fletcher to remember and to right these brutal wrongs.

As a survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, Viola Ford Fletcher bravely shared her story so that we’d never forget this painful part of our history. Michelle and I are grateful for her lifelong work to advance civil rights, and send our love to her family.

This is outrageous from Keir Starmer.

‘Russian links to Reform need investigating’, he says. So why is his government still fighting case now in Grand Chamber of Strasbourg court refusing to have such an investigation into Russian interference ??

The idea came from our old tabby Chi famous for doing a full wall of death around the living room when he had a serious case of the zoomies. 😸 I couldn’t manage him running up the walls, but I painted him racing flat-out. What do you think? Did I catch him?

Mill workers were hugely important in the push to get women the vote. Although wages were low they, wielded economic power and were well organised.

They often, unfairly, get overlooked in the popular narrative where the quest for the vote gets cast as a purely middle or upper class movement.
This has to be one of of the most iconic photographs of the 20th century from March 1907. Sixteen years old suffragette Dora Thewlis. A poor mill worker from Honley in Huddersfield she was a member of the Women's Social and Political Union At a demonstration in London she is

It’s International Men’s Day. Obviously these things are sort of ludicrous in the main, but maybe it’s a good time for people to reflect on the fact that something around 4/5 suicides are men, which never seems anything less than absolutely terrifying to me.

So much for us offering sanctuary.

I am hating the government policy and the rhetoric around people we should help.
BBC News: "the government believe refugees are deliberately bringing their children to avoid deportation"

As opposed to doing what with their children??

Just reshape and sell history.

Metal detector finds I feel should belong to us all.
Yup... here it is, as found, in the PAS database - it's been straightened out for sale (something archaeological conservators wouldn't do - it was likely intentionally crushed in antiquity. Also, are we 100% sure this is right shape??)

Erm....I remember the concentration camps were full of jewellery and personal things stolen. This is one bloody awful look for Labour. Who's advising them? An ouija board of Goebbles?
This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

Two years seem like no time at all to try and heal from the trauma that has made you a refugee seeking Sanctuary in 1st place. Yet alone have the energy to achieve all this with the fear of losing everything again.
To stay permanently refugees have to lean the language and establish a long-term career path, and they have to do this on the basis of rolling two-year residence permits. But who is going to invest in you as a worker if you might soon get kicked out?
The UK wants to emulate Denmark’s hardline asylum model – but what does it actually look like?
Denmark has slashed asylum numbers by granting only short-term status and by targeting ‘ghettoes’, which critics say has damaged the country’s values
