Dog Day Afternoon is one of my (many) "cheaper than a babysitter" films.
Why?
Kids' tickets were relatively inexpensive in the '70s and my mom loved going to the movies. Dragging us kids along with her was the sensible choice!

It's a pity that Al Pacino won his only Oscar for a hammy performance in a perfectly pleasing but shallow popcorn film.
Because the older I get, the more I'm convinced he's one of the best screen actors ever to do the job. He's fearless, with the talent to back it up.
