NOAA published two applications today from The Metals Company seeking permits to conduct exploratory #DeepSeaMining operations in the #ClarionClippertonZone.

This is a required procedural step before the permits can be issued.

The dissolution of the Heritage Foundation and liquidation of its assets will be bloodless if the few remaining fascist swine allow it to be.
"More than a dozen Heritage Foundation staffers departed the [MAGA septic] tank and are set to join Advancing American Freedom, a conservative advocacy group founded by former Vice President Mike Pence." www.wsj.com/politics/ele...

Is “Biodiversity Net Gain” another greenwashing gimmick?

If you’re not familiar with it, this article is well worth reading to understand the concept. It will likely be a central pillar in Labour‘s new push to ease regulations for development.

Biodiversity Net Gain: can developers be trusted?
Developers seem rather too fickle concerning their obligations to protect the environment, and the situation may be about to get worse

to add to the Jake Paul schadenfreude, Andrew Tate also lost a fight to some reality TV influencer. most analysis of the fight I've read described his opponent as deeply untalented but Andrew lost anyway. Tate's endurance was awful and he was gassed after the first round.

Early this year, Erik Prince told Breitbart that he had helped put the “Letter of Marque” idea in Senator Mike Lee’s head. Lee has now introduced a bill to make the idea a reality... www.breitbart.com/politics/202...

The most powerful force in American politics today is anti-establishment fury at a rigged economic system.

To counter Trump’s fake populism and his culture wars, progressives should mount a real battle against economic elites who have shafted America’s middle and working classes.

YOU DUMB FUCKS. THIS IS ME.

I have a scooter. I can walk. I can't, however, walk through 80 miles of airport. I can walk onto an airplane or through hallways. I can't walk the .5 mile to the convention center.

People, get smarter, it's embarrassing at this point.

Lee wants to cut language that prevents parks from being sold. The amendment would also roll back requirements parks to have Federal staffing (AKA, park rangers). We need you to call your senators ASAP. Tell them to oppose the Lee amendment #3972.

This. AI isn't enabling learning, it's replacing it. It won't enhance creativity, it's supplanting it, using stolen regurgitated material. It's not providing more accurate search results, it's grabbing what it infers you want to know from multiple sources and spewing the combined hodgepodge for you.
Maybe it's because I learned musical instruments from a young age. Maybe it's because I'm a scientist by training. Maybe it's because I also do coding, but I struggle to understand how people don't get this:

In order to get good at something, you first have to suck at it. A LOT, in some cases. 2/4

Things with the economy seem to be going well for Trump, but only in the very short term. In order to prevent things from going south heading into the midterms, Trump is trying to take over the Fed, but even that might not do much good. From Robert Kuttner:

Trump’s Self-Imposed Economic Trap - The American Prospect
Even if he gains control of the Fed, monetary policy can only do so much—and Trump rejects other policies that could cut the high cost of living and improve growth.
