Another lesser-known MLK quote that sticks with me: in “Nonviolence: The Only Road to Freedom,” King envisions a better world that “will be accomplished by persons who have the courage to put an end to suffering by willingly suffering themselves rather than inflict suffering upon others.”
On MLK Day, just re-upping this detail from a little-known speech King gave in 1966.
It also includes this passage, where King says this line:
"I think the earth is the Lord's, and since we didn't make these things by ourselves, we must share them with each other."
