So I embraced my Czech heritage tonight and made Česneková polévka, Garlic Potato Soup. I am choosing to believe that this is the potato soup my dad was nostalgic for so often. Grandma Marie Jirak’s soup, it’s a Czech staple apparently, so how could it not be right? #heritagecooking #czech #dinner

Making a single Round Steak into a meal for 5. Beef & Broccoli Ramen - but I also added onions, green onions, fennel, a Daikon radish, spinach, and a little arugula. Prepping my new planting area for next spring. Along back fence I am going to plant forsythia, coneflower, blue sage, English lavender, black eyed Susan, white lilac, hydrangea, sunflower, climbing rose, passion flower, and clematis seeds and see what happens. #gardensky #tinyjoys #gardening 🌱

That’s a load-bearing “if” there. The one i attended had a bustling area full of tents with petitions, political education, and volunteer signups for mutual aid and ICE watch. People are more likely to take real action when they’ve had a chance to speak with people who are taking action.
Protests like the "No Kings" rallies do not threaten power, but the powerful are happy to pretend it matters.
Fighting empire requires direct actions, sustained boycotts & acts that interrupt business as usual. If these rallies make ppl less likely to take real action, they're counterproductive.

It wasn’t easy for me and just one of my family members to get out for #NoKings Day 10/18/2025, but I’m so glad we did. Riverside Park full with everyone from babies to elderly. And loud! Cars traveling by honking horns and waving signs. It was like an hour long parade! #resist #truthtopower

I call it Ratatouille Risotto and it’s a 1 pot meal. I used ratatouille vegetables, added a sweet potato and a delicata squash. Fresh greens and herbs, then rice and broth. Finished with mozzarella and Parmesan. Very complex and velvety great way to use CSA veggies. #cookingsky #CSA #homecooking

None of us should feel exempt or invulnerable, because if they can do this to our neighbors, they can come for us, too. That said, those of us who are not presently among those being targeted should not focus on our own fear and vulnerability. We should support those in the immediate path of harm.
