New data shows that the CCRB retroactively doctored public data for more than 10,000 misconduct allegations against NYPD officers.
The NYPD’s Watchdog Whitewashed More Than 10,000 Misconduct Allegations in Public Data, New Evidence Shows
Allegations of lying, sexual misconduct, bigoted statements, and racist policing were among those quietly reclassified by the Civilian Complaint Review Board.

The considerable power of Boris Lojkine’s new film “Souleymane’s Story” depends entirely on its moment-to-moment persuasiveness, on a set of narrative and aesthetic choices that, as presented, seldom feel like choices at all, @justincchang.bsky.social writes.
The Piercing Immigrant Drama of “Souleymane’s Story”
In Boris Lojkine’s sharply observed Paris-set drama, a Guinean refugee struggles to survive—and to cling to the truth of who he is.

And

"Why cops make the murder rate go up."

Part 1000.

Award winning musician GloRilla's house was burglarized by home invaders who knew she would be performing at a concert.

Police showed up and... searched her house for drugs...🤔

And charged her.🤡

Many, many, MANY studies show that the cumulative costs of harassing homeless people—cops, prison, jail, etc—are much more expensive than just housing them and providing income, and that doing those things helps people get to the point where they’re not in crisis any longer.

We choose cruelty.

Again, New York City spends $12 billion a year on cops. Billion!

Cops that can't recover a stolen bike or smartphone that's covered in AirTags.

Cops that aren't good at solving murders.

Cops that cost so much that the city has had to shorten the operating hours of libraries and swimming pools.
In @slate.com , I explained why Zohran Mamdani’s proposal for fare-free buses is a bad idea for NYC.

The cost would be enormous, the benefits meh, and the downsides real.

If Mamdani can find $1 billion/year to improve transportation, there are many better ways to spend it.

Zohran Mamdani Has Some Good Ideas for NYC Transit. His Biggest Promise Isn’t One of Them.
Riders don't want buses to be free. They want something else.

The politician who blew $60 million of taxpayer money on his sexual harassment defense wants to take the police force that blew $206 million of taxpayer money on settlements *in 2024 alone* and give them even more money and power which will result in even more settlements.
34,000 already employed by NYPD. Before overtime, $11 billion in taxpayer funds. Largest police force in world.

Cuomo calling for 5000 more. Base starting salary alone: $300 million more.

Could instead fund violence interruption & summer youth employment in every NYC neighborhood for 5 years.
