When you come across racists complaining about Bad Bunny today, don’t forget to hit them with this: Puerto Rican literature about Puerto Rico written by a boricua. Yo sería borincano aunque naciera en la luna. Thanks and hope you have a great Sunday!

The day the Staple Singers met MLK: "Pops returned from his meeting with King at Dexter Avenue Church and gathered his family at the hotel in Montgomery. “If he can preach it, we can sing it,” he said, and essentially set the group’s course for the next 10 years.

“Making do” with the Putintseva-Haddad Maia match. Which reminds of my sports bucket list goal to sit in a Brazilian cheering section sometime.
It would be one thing if some of that money would go to Pam Shriver.
Am I just learning correctly that with an ESPN+ account AND ESPN channels through YouTube TV, that isn’t good enough to get all of the courts at the Australian Open?!?

Hey so I wrote a book! It's a middle-grade book on Angel Reese. It's a book specifically written for libraries and schools, so I will not be hurt if you don't buy it. But your kid may want to check it out at the library!

3. Bibliophobia by Sarah Chihaya. Amazing memoir of the relationship between the author’s reading life and her mental health. First 5 star read of the year. CW: discussion of suicide
2. First Person Singular by Haruki Murakami. My first Murakami fiction (I read his running book ages ago). Brilliant writing but not my kind of thing. 🤷‍♀️
I’m gonna try a book thread this year.
1. The Guardian Test by Christina Soontornvar. 1st book of a fantasy kid lit series. HP esque. Quite charming. Completed one prompt in *two* of @thestorygraph.com main 2026 challenges. 😎

100% chance I quote the last line of this to my therapist on Monday.
WELP, I guess I’m awake now. Time to
make some tea, read more of BALDWIN: A LOVE STORY by Nicholas Boggs which is just incredible, btw and then get back to writing.

I’ll keep an eye on Trump’s moves, but I will not give my day over to him. He doesn’t get to plan my heart’s agenda.

I miss Rosal’s in Little Italy and Heartland Cafe in Rogers Park.
These places are all too famous to really mourn. How about Standee’s diner on Granville, the A and T on Clark Street, Happy Harry’s and The Little King and Aphrodite’s in the old Granada? Capt’n Nemo’s? Papa Dee’s? Carmen’s Pizza? Every neighborhood has lost these sorts of joints.
What Chicago restaurant do you miss the most? 🍟 🌭

We asked Chicagoans to name the restaurant they would bring back from the past. These 16 places are gone but definitely not forgotten: blockclubchi.co/4mjnmOF
