Today is #IndiesFirst! This is one of my favorite holidays. It's all about celebrating some of the best places in the world: indie bookstores. 💙

Find an @indiebound.bsky.social store near you and make plans to visit this them this holiday season: www.indiebound.org/indie-store-...

I was wandering over here to do a Promo Post, letting folks know that there is a little sale on What the Sea Brings over on Kobo and then I saw THIS?!

Just my book, casually hanging out with Howl's Moving Castle 🤯

Black Friday reminder: You can support independent bookstores and get great deals without lining the pockets of billionaires 😌
November 28, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Friendly reminder to shop small today! The billionaires will be fine, but our independent shops, small businesses, and indie authors need your help!

You can support ALL THREE when you order a copy of my books through your favorite indie store :)

Using the belief that creators are the "petite bourgeoisie" to justify pirating books/stealing art is EXACTLY what makes it so hard for anyone who isn't rich to pursue their creative dreams

If you steal our art, you PERSONALLY are preventing us from building sustainable careers
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

Thanksgiving Dinner is delicious but brutal on my adeno / endo 😅 WORTH IT

I released a book and wrote a zero draft + first draft of a thing. It doesn’t feel like much but then I remember the State of the World + I had surgery earlier in the year 🫠
Hey, props to writers who got literally anything done this year.

Today's 'writing' session involved looking longingly at an artist's portfolio and dreaming up future cover possibilities

so uh...buy my book so that I can make the sequel extra pretty?

I have another “Oh! I’ve seen your book!” to add to my tally. This one was a Hot Topic employee 😂

Every November I make big writing plans only to remember that, every November, it is the worst time to actually do this 😅

Avid reader and writer who thought for a good long while that I wanted to be a film director - only to get a job at a bookstore and realize what I actually wanted was to tell stories. Jumped headfirst into writing and haven’t looked back
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

I got to tell the Chewy Support that Banjo has made a remarkable recovery and asked to get his pet page moved out of "Memorial" 🥰

Today I learned that Jester’s Bridal Procession song has bits of the main theme in a major key?! You so clever @criticalrole.bsky.social

He’s out of surgery and the vet says he is doing well! I get to pick him up at 3pm.
Today's the day for Banjo's dental work! He's a bit more alert this morning than yesterday which is good, but I'm still a nervous wreck about it all. Really, *really* hoping that this will help him in a big way so that he can be around to sass me for many more years to come.

Banjo was pretty droopy today but perked up a little with several big piles of cat treats and soft mousse.

Dental is scheduled for tomorrow. Really, really hoping that this helps get my cat back to his bossy, food-loving self

I start with the Seven Plot Point outline as I find it works best for my brain - but this is usually only the first little seed during brainstorming #kidlitchat
TOPIC: How do you come up with your story's structure? Are you a Save the Cat person? A hero's journey lover? Do you follow a natural rhythm, have another template or not even think about it? Discuss away! #kidlitchat

The problem with offering Banjo a wide variety of options for food is that now he expects them.

He ran all excited over to his new spot and then straight up glared at me when I dared to provide some of his prescription food

Plot Twist: He just ate a bunch of a different fancy somewhat prescription food
Banjo: -ignores expensive prescription food, possibly because it is hurting his bad tooth-

Also Banjo: -happily scarfs down giant piles of crunchy cat treats because Delicious-

Freaking cats.
