We can just do things. Thanks to the work of @atproto.com @atprotocol.dev @sri.xyz @juli.ee @leaflet.pub @awarm.space @schlage.town @cozylittle.house and @danabra.mov for the tools and inspiration to actually get this to work. I am merely a vessel for copypasta coding.

I don't use Bluesky custom feeds a ton, but this is one of my favorites. People sharing blog posts and essays they like. bsky.app/profile/did:...

@leaflet.pub is one of the coolest things I’ve seen on bsky. I’ve always been intrigued by Substack but never used it because I didn’t care for the “walled garden”.

I’m perusing leaflets and HOOKED
We wrote a quick letter, on Substack, to Substack creators — a call for anyone similarly tired of publishing trending toward walled garden social platforms:

Join us on a more open network & publishing ecosystem!
An open letter to Substack creators
Lab Notes 007: a note to those who find Substack useful, but use the platform reluctantly; an invitation to join us in publishing on a more open network.

Still a little rough around the edges, but you can now pull your @leaflet.pub posts and read them locally with Noteleaf (as markdown)!

You can now add buttons in Leaflet publications!

Add any link — great for a call to action like 'buy' or 'contact' or 'explore'…or, as in this example, a 'new doc' button :)

This is one of the very last blocks we had to make compatible with atproto publishing…very close now to *publish any doc*!

Reminder: you can make as many publications on Leaflet as you like!
My ever-increasing list of @leaflet.pub publications is not a problem at all and I can stop at any time I want.

One thing I really like about being part of early days on #leaflet is that I am atop the "Recently Published" section of the Reader for a non-trivial amount of time after posting. Does a lot to help you feel like you're not shouting into the void.

Oh hey, we added this but didn't announce yet — you can now drag and drop images in Leaflet ✨

Works on both document 📄 *and* canvas 🖼️ pages! And you can add multiple images at once this way!
I can drag and drop images into @leaflet.pub! Woo! Loving leaflet, btw. More and more as I use it more and more. The sub-documents are killer killer killer

Great post on atproto blogging / longform, and implications for the dynamics of publishing in the open social web.

We're glad to see people publishing such a diverse range of things on Leaflet too!

Awesome post on the future of blogging in the atmosphere!

Great breakdown of blogs vs. newsletters, and how possibilities for discovery & distribution multiply when building with others — shortform, longform, and beyond — on an open network ✨
I might've gone a little overboard, but here's 3,500 words on social media, how to make it better, what's so awesome about Bluesky's protocol, and why I'm particularly excited about @leaflet.pub as showing the future of publishing. (Plus some feature suggestions to make Leaflet damn near perfect.)

I see a huge opportunity for how the AT Protocol could reshape academic publishing. Imagine researchers publishing continuously and atomically — before, during, and after research projects — in public connected continuous streams of discovery and insight.
Some notes on how we can make Leaflet more useful for scientists and academic communities — touching on things like annotation, standalone doc publishing, new block types, post reactions, references & backlinks…

Second in a series, and intended as a living doc — we'd love to hear your thoughts!

i love ATProto and the ATmosphere 🤍

so cool & rewarding to see an app i built (@anisota.net) interoperating with multiple other apps on the same network, and seeing people talking about their experience of that interoperation via the interoperation itself (like in the comments on @leaflet.pub)

Publications in Leaflet now support polls!

Could be great for some interactive fiction experiments 📖👀
Psst @leaflet.pub is there a plan to add polls to pubs? Thinking about the fanfic threads on twitter days where we could have interactive fics where readers could vote for what they wanted to see happen next 🥺👉👈💖

In case you've missed it:
• Bluesky is unique because its underlying social protocol (ATProto) is fully open
• this means anyone can build anything on top of it
@leaflet.pub is a doc publishing/blogging platform you can log in to with your existing details, and it's *awesome*!
We've got a new block: POLLS!

And we'd love for you to test it out by voting on the top block you'd like to see us add — we've got a shortlist, but comment if there's another you'd put first :)

Coming soon: publishing standalone docs to atproto, to more easily make one-off polls for anything!

Update: we made a few changes to help clarify that votes on polls are *public*:

- a note that votes are public before you vote
- a toggle to see the results before you vote
- a popover to show who voted for what on the results page

Let us know if you have further feedback on how polls work!
