last week, Peadar Tóibín called acceptance of trans people an "anti-science ideology" – the same week he admitted a hardline climate change denier into his party. that should be put to him next time he's pontificating on the plinth

In Scotland, people are (very rightly) unhappy that only 4% natural woodland cover remains.

Spare a thought for poor Ireland, at around a mere 1%.

Nowhere else on Earth is in such desperate need of rewilding.
Where are the trees?
We have A LOT of this landscape and less than 4% native woodland. This should be a rich mosaic of habitats, moor, bog, woodland, montane scrub…We force it to remain in this artificial state. We don’t need to give every inch of our uplands over to sheep, grouse and deer stalking.

Minister's reply: Uh, dunno.

Ken O'Flynn, married to actual Aristocracy, a multi millionaire landlord with properties across Ireland, Spain and England. Pretty sure he's the new largest landlord in the Dáil, and certainly the furthest right wing member of Independent Ireland's Oireachtas team.

If it's anyone, it's him.

FF, FG, and their Lowry lackies are undoing the ban on data centres, while data centres are already on track to use more electricity than ALL households combined.

They create nearly no jobs, and drive up the price of electricity for ordinary people.

This government is beholden to Big Tech.

I'm so sick of the government
Micheál Martin today told the Dáil that any ban on importing services from illegal Israeli settlements would be “unimplementable” as well as having legal consequences for US multinationals here. Separately the government’s spring legislative programme refers only to a ban on “goods” from those areas

A party founded by fascists getting support from an open far-right fascist. Blueshirts simply want to lessen their burden and use any excuse to blame the housing crisis on anything except its cause.

They'll always find themselves an ally in the likes of Steenson to defend that sentiment.
Dublin City Council has rejected a repeated claim by Tánaiste Simon Harris that a significant number of people presenting as homeless do not have a housing right in Ireland.

The tanaiste was defended by Malachy Steenson, who said "for once" he agreed with him

Parties that support independence at 50%. Absolutely mental and very encouraging for the future of Wales.

Also shows just how much Labour has fucked it in their heartland. Coming fourth, with potential to come fifth in WALES is fucking insane.

Hope we can see an Independent Wales in our life time.

Wolves 0
Lynx 0
Wild boar 0
Beavers 0

There aren't even any plans to *consider* (re)introducing any of these species. What a joke.
Slovenia is smaller and more densely populated than Scotland. But despite its small size and relatively populous countryside, it's home to nearly 1,000 brown bears, over 120 wolves and a growing population of around 50 reintroduced lynx.

Seems many companies are using this tactic to cut employees. Not being allowed work in Regional hubs either but have to be in an office in Dublin. It's something those "standing up for rural Ireland" should be opposing vehemently.
Staff at Enterprise Ireland have expressed concern after learning that the semi-state is trying to reverse its remote work policy.

Under the plans, some staff may have to attend the Dublin HQ instead of its regional offices.

The Irish right are a bunch of Quislings. Genuine security threat to Irish sovereignty.

This whole event directly caters to the most powerful empire on earth, and directly to their corporations. Ganley's talks of lowering taxes will almost certainly only help the billionaires and corporations.
It's becoming very clear that many of our self-styled patriots are anything but. They are trying to undermine what's left of our sovereignty for the benefit of US imperialism.

What exactly was the US ambassador doing at this conference? Foreign interference in our politics.

Funniest thing about this whole ordeal, is that if Scottish Labour were part of some plot to oust Starmer, it'd likely be to put Streeting on the throne.
