Today I've discovered an animal called "Skeleton panda sea squirt" exists. A sessile, filter feeding tunicat.

Ran across this breathing mass of fur on my daily walk. I think it’s a cat. I considered poking it but decided to err on the side of potentially not getting bit.

Anyone who plays in person D&D know of a good app to record and summarize games? There’s lots of new AI software like copilot but everything I’ve found all seems like it’s only for online meetings like zoom. #dnd

Haven't been on here much lately, been underwater with work and a DIY bathroom remodel. Someone please remind me that demo-ing a bathroom and laying new penny tile takes 10x longer than I think it will next time I decide to do a DIY home project.

As a woman in tech for the last 25 years, I have dealt a lot of crap from men in the space. And when I’m finally feeling like women are maybe making up an inch of ground, dudes go and do this. Come on guys. You can do better.

Being a creative is really bad right now and getting worse.
RE: Successful authors; it's not uncommon these days for those who get big advances to get paid in 4ths, 5ths, or 6ths. Essentially, trad pub gets a payment plan.

When they have all the power and money.

Freelancer brain says this is predatory as fuck.
I think it's already happening to some extent, in most creative professions. It's basically impossible to make a living in many of them. I think all but the most successful authors don't write as their full time job.

Interesting blog post from Kevin Hearne on book tours and their profitability (or lack thereof) but why we still need to do them and support them. (BTW if you haven’t read his stuff, his Iron Druid series is a blast) #writingcommunity

Now these are cool birds.
Extant dinosaurs
The most marvelous muppets. Ok, actually they're young Yellow-crowned Night Herons. But they totally look like they came out of Jim Henson's studio.

Alert from Writer Beware: There seems to be a lot of book piracy on Soundcloud; I just found two of my books there, listed by several obviously fake accounts. Definitely worth checking out. SFWA provides this handy DMCA notice generator: www.sfwa.org/2010/07/27/s...

I totally should have been born British. Or Irish. Or Scottish. They have tea for all times of the day. And they know how to do it right. It’s a sad state of affairs in the US when it comes to tea.

Bifurcated
Miasma
Ephemeral
Incendiary
eosinophilic esophagitis (thanks @kateandnate.bsky.social for teaching me this one)
