Since apparently the SOS in Louisiana hasn't bothered with Blue Sky yet (or my google fu is failing me...) I felt it important to share this.

The image is pretty self explanatory but Louisiana is moving towards partisan elections and primaries and there are changes to the independent designation.

I love that we're just far enough South where the city shuts down when it snows but far enough North to actually get snow a few times a year. This was taken last night and this morning. Just a couple inches, but still fun for us.

Louisiana Republicans once again showing their thin skin. Good for Davante. We need more of this. Besides, he's still on the commission. People are apparently this is FAFO but it really isn't. I seriously doubt this changes his approach at all.

The fact that I'm seeing pockets of snow still on the ground from the 10th or whenever it snowed here in Nashville still is mind boggling to me ....

Tim running for VP might have been the best thing to ever happen for Minnesota's state-to-state migration. If I wasn't a southerner at heart, I might be trying to figure out how to move 😂
Our 2025 Infrastructure Plan invests in:

- Clean drinking water
- Modern infrastructure
- Public safety
- Safe and affordable housing

It’s a plan that will make Minnesota the best state to live and work.

I went rural(ish) Pennsylvania, but same sentiment applies 😂
In this weather you need a thick southern man.

NWS snow totals for NWS ORL office.

Top snowfall district-wide, Chalmette @ 11.5"
In EBR, Oak Hills @ 9"
In ORL, NO @ 10"
Obviously, this is in 1 day & as the hubs keeps pointing out to me .... this would literally be a huge amount of snow nearly anywhere for 24 hours... not just SELA.

Y'all. This is basically the Gulf of Mexico. 20 minutes north of Port Fourchon. #Louisiana, I can't even imagine.

Yes, it’s really cold in Baton Rouge. Yes, I’m outside, but I’ve got a fabulous fur coat and access to my night house if I want to go inside. Stay warm, Tigers.

Y'all ... Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I just can't. The last measurement I got sent was knocking on 4" and its not even peak fall rate there yet.

I thought leaving BTR for Nashville meant my friends would be jealous of the snow I'd get this year not the other way around :o

Here in TN its forecasted to get down to 3° tmrw and in LA, its supposed to get more snow than we got a few weeks ago. I'm happy for Louisiana ... I am. After all, BTR hasn't gotten real measurable snow since 2017. But I'm still SO SO SO jealous 😂

Enjoy it, y'all.

In Burbank this morning, I met a couple who told me they still didn’t know if their house was still standing.

We looked it up online and got the good news together.

It was still there.

I will not reward a targeted FB ad by buying it ... I will not ... I will not .... but man.... its really fucking tempting.

Oh shit, I just realized ... I hope the cold next week doesn't cause significant issues with Louisiana crawfish this season :/

Not sure what the coldest feels like I've ever been in before but I think the coldest I've ever been was like 9 degrees or so in Illinois. I'm not sure I'm ready for 0 feels like though.
Here's what we know: It's going to be cold next week. Exact numbers will shift around, but the cold is coming. We don't know who sees ice/snow next week, but the chance is there across the south. Follow along as we track this Siberian air mass headed into the US.

Y'all. Popeyes outside of Louisiana is trash. Seriously. I don't bother going anymore. One of the first food stops when I cross the border though.
Also, I got to try Popeye's Chicken in Vegas. Maybe that's what Louisiana-style chicken is supposed to be, but WAY too much crumb for my liking. Literally more crumb than chicken meat. Chicken had a weird after-taste too. 2.5/5 at best.

There was a son who was 12 when his parents were murdered. I can't find him in the records. Patrick Morris Jr.

I can't find any of them on FS/ancestry but I've found contemporary news articles that tell of the event.

No records with the SOS either. Guess I'm gonna be obsessing for a while.
On the night of January 11, 1896, a mob of 20 white men set fire to the home of Patrick and Charlotte “Lottie” Morris in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, killing them both. Mr. Morris, a white railroad hand, and Mrs. Morris, a Black woman, were targeted because of their interracial marriage.

Hey Newspeople from outside of Louisiana, its not hard to pronounce Sister Helen Prejean's name. And even if you don't know how, its not hard to figure it out. Literally on the first line of her IG she says it FOR you. She's from Baton Rouge, FFS. *screams* www.instagram.com/reel/DDICq-k...
