I don't think there was any "perfect" solution for MLS because the league is big, markets and weather vary, etc. Given that, I think they made the right choice to better align MLS with the world. Sure it gets cold up north. But it also gets hot in unsafe ways in the south for a long stretch too

on the level, massive country having to deal with different extreme weathers in different regions at different times. I'd want to play football in Chicago in January as much as I'd want to play in Houston in August. Calendar shifts should only be driven by player welfare.
