It is actually vaguely just about time for the educated to get just a tad more angry about the idiocy of the anti-education crowd imo. Like I'm sorry but no, my university education wasn't just good for me, it was good for society.
I'm a free rider? Oh, okay. I suppose you think you could do my job.

Also the only leading Finnish politician to seriously suggest nuclear weapons - so far - was a Social Democrat minister of defence (and former head of military intelligence) Kalle Lehmus. He proposed purchasing nuclear weapons from the USSR to satisfy Finland’s treaty obligations with the USSR :D
Most of the Soc Dem party, including Erlander, were thinking of national defence though, and Palme's position was in the minority, if not a one man cause.

Even he, though used Realpolitik to argue for nuclear weapons in a speech for the soc dem youth league in 1958.

The Nordic Nuke Debate™️ has gone international:

"The Nordic countries could offer something genuinely new in the field of nuclear command and control, tackling both moral and psychological aspects of deterrence."

Proposals include a rotating nuclear football amongst the Nordic leaders.

Not yet much, but a start:

“Maybe the Nordics could develop a small nuclear weapon for their safety,” a reporter for the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat ends his piece.

My friends proposed we give him Åland as a compromise, other issues aside, I was sceptical he'd fall for it, until I saw this.
Trump is now confusing Greenland and Iceland: "They're not there for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. So Iceland has already cost us a lot of money."

What is frustrating about this story is that it implies that the information that a chatbot can give you about making a nuclear weapon is separate from what you can just find online anyway. While I appreciate that the point is that "guardrails" are flawed, it is still a silly example.

This is a view of not only a soldier, but a military #intelligence professional who devoted his whole life to understanding the Kremlins and what they can do.

It can be justifiably criticized: it goes too far into essentialism, for one.

But in the short term, it is blunt but not wrong.

Yes people can technically just leave if you tax them too much. The difficulty is that countries also have characteristics other than the tax rate that determine how attractive they are, and the tax rate is very much the price of admission for those things.
