I'm taking a YA lit course for my library degree in the spring and am starting on the reading list early. Thought it would be fun to provide my thoughts in emojis on each here as I read them.

Just submitted my term paper that marks the end of my first semester back in school pursuing a second grad degree.

I may have had more rigorous coursework in the past, but I've never done this before while being a mom, working full time, and trying to keep up with other responsibilities. So yay!🎉

Update: I didn't stretch beforehand, so shin splints :(
Firefly Trail was cool and wound through areas of Athens I'm not around much! Just sad that so much of the city that isn't downtown or on campus is completely run down, forgotten, or paved over... but heaven forbid we don't make more parking lots for the freshmen

31.

I find myself thinking, with all the Super Mario Galaxy movie buzz today, about the last memory I have of us all together, before everything went wrong. Marlo kicked up a storm while we watched the first Mario movie in theaters. It's a happy memory, though tinged with a future I couldn't know.
Gonna count, actually.

29.
Every 12th of the month in our house is Marlo Day. Sometimes we commemorate, sometimes we just notice. In years since I last held him, I count 2, but in Marlo Days... I've lost count. Time makes me feel like an onlooker. Sobering how our norms encourage the silence, even about one's own tragedies.

Think I found a setting somewhere inside Podbean to permanently stop these. If anyone else hears ads like this on next week's show, let me know and we'll just turn off ads all together. I like making a meager amount of ad revenue for all the work that goes into the pod, but not at that cost. Fck ice
Someone just told me that spotify is running ice ads before the @thezeldacast.bsky.social

Fuck that

community.spotify.com/t5/Other-Pod... fill this out if you hear that garbage on any of my podcasts.

I can't type "Many thanks!" at the end of my emails anymore without hearing the Fire Emblem 3H merchant NPC line for after you buy something.

I swear someone on my timeline posted about pumpkin chocolate chip cookies but now I can't find the post so even if I hallucinated that, thanks because you inspired me to make my own and they're delicious 🍪🎃

I got to host a talk at work yesterday titled "Why LLMs Can't Tell the Truth," and that was pretty cool given the hype climate we're in.

Being in an asynchronous grad program only for my group project members to insist on doing a live planning meeting last-minute does make me mad, actually.

Today in the loss community is known as the International Wave of Light. A day when those missing children gone too soon light a candle in honor of their babies. If you'd like to participate, the idea is to light a candle (any will do) at 7pm local time.

I knew about this upcoming Public Service Commission election, but didn't realize it could help set a better national precedent.

I was ignoring that we take Vi to the daycare we picked out for Marlo pretty well until today. Saw like 3 dads in a row going in as I was leaving, each with a baby carrier in one hand and a toddler in the other.

This is why we fund scientists to study things like oyster slobber even if you don’t think it sounds important
⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.
