it will not not do no such thing
BBC report at a headline level that Grok will now not make sexually exploitative images any more. An actual reporter comes on and explains that it will do no such thing, and will just make the images invisible in the UK. These are two very, very different things.

“You can’t say decriminalization failed if you never actually tried to make it work.”

and, as with safe supply, this *failure* was the government’s INTENDED goal

Their purpose has always been to maintain the status quo

I’m really happy to say that #portmoody council voted last night to get off X. Governments should not be participating in a platform that makes and distributes CSAM and NCII.

It's genuinely confusing why, over and over again, organizations that cater to, or are dependent upon, artists writers and creators decide to absolutely fucking enrage their constituency with "AI," only to be required to backtrack after considerable loss of goodwill
San Diego Comic-Con will no longer allow AI 'art' to be displayed at their event

"Material created by AI either partially or wholly, is not allowed in the art show"

This follows backlash from artists after SDCC initially indicated AI-generated work would be permitted

It looks like I won't have to endure ads ever on The Spruce website ever again because it turns out to be easier to unsubscribe from The Spruce than to turn off my ad blocker.

This is REALLY important news, from Montreal:

Includes an investment of $564.6 million to maintain existing paths and build new ones.”

We’re watching the leadership closely after the last election…

His glasses look like one of those trucks.
Every day, thousands of women and children are victimized by people on X using the Grok chatbot to generate scantily clad and naked photos of them.

It’s time for governments to take action. Elon Musk’s X should have been banned long ago. They don’t have an excuse to delay any longer.

Canada take note!
Make no mistake, everything that’s happening in the United States is being significantly enabled by the right wing oligarch capture of media.

Every other country needs to do everything possible to keep that from happening where they are.

Including protecting the CBC from Poilievre here in Canada.

Ontarians and Albertans in particular, this is what private health care becomes

yeah it's The Bay
“Medical Properties Trust” owns 400 health care facilities & rents them back to hospital groups. 9 companies that leased hospitals from MPT have gone bankrupt. And while dozens of hospitals have been sold, entangled in bankruptcy proceedings, or become depleted shells, MPT’s execs earned millions.
On-call doctors who haven’t gotten paid and won’t answer calls.
Medical staff asked to come in and clean the hospital on the weekends.
Beds repossessed in the middle of the night.

This is the scene at just one out of dozens of hospitals impacted by a major hospital bankruptcy.
