The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

-It's okay to dislike a movie.
-Xenophobia is not okay.
-Harassing people because they like something you don't like (or vice versa) is not okay.

Straight out of the worst dystopian scenarios.

The wealthiest individual in the world (and likely the one who causes the most harm, between DOGE and X) has succeeded in introducing his revisionist (denying the Holocaust) and anti-Semitic disinformation tool into (El Salvador) classrooms.

I’ve heard from immigration attorneys that clients say ICE guards lay out the WRAP device (essentially a full-body straitjacket) on the tarmac as a threat — “do what we say or you’re getting the WRAP on the whole flight.”

And here’s proof, from Seattle livestream today via @lalabote.bsky.social.

This child's death is on every Senator who voted to approve the appointment of an anti-vaxxer to run HHS. I just read that it appears that we're not going to have vaccines for flu and Covid next year. How many more deaths?
The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

We're at the scene in Goodfellas when Jimmy, Tommy, and Henry are planning the Lufthansa heist and the overnight security guard is in on it. Very easy to engage in wanton criminality when anyone who investigates you is bounced out and anyone else who might want to (DOJ) looks the other way 🙃
Just awful: One of the inspector generals that Trump fired was examining Elon Musk's failures to meet reporting protocol designed to safeguard national security as a major recipient of Pentagon contracts.

It's time to follow up on that. New piece from me:

Did Trump Quietly Kill a Sensitive Pentagon Probe into Elon Musk?
The New York Times revealed last year that Musk and SpaceX failed to meet federal reporting requirements for Pentagon contractors. No one has asked: What’s going on with that today?

Trump’s absurd proposals distract from his damaging actions | Editorial
Hullabaloo over Donald Trump's North American trade war feint and Gaza takeover drew attention away from the real dirty work: a purge of federal workers and Elon Musk's unchecked power.

public health factors nowhere into leadership's ambitions.
Instead, health officials say CDC Director Monarez relayed orders by the Trump administration to come up with research to publish this week about the health risks from wildfires, days after President Trump criticized California's Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom's handling of fires in the state.
