Never been an art fan in my life. This street art by Eduardo Kobra makes emotional.

Look I know corruption defines the current US administration but if I were a journalist I'd do some digging into what a private studio art school in Ridgewood, Queens with no apparent humanities instruction will be doing with $2 million in NEH funding grandcentralatelier.org/about/about-...

Fairfield Porter is known for his paintings of quiet domestic life at his home on Penobscot Bay, Maine. 'The Mirror,' is a seminal work from 1966, capturing his admiration for the interior narratives of Matisse and Bonnard, yet painted in a style and language distinctly his own.

Actually, something is art if I say it is and if you do the slow painting turn around thing on social media it’s not art. Sorry!!

Finished my book and was craving some intelligent literary discussion so I put on a random podcast while walking to work… 20 minutes in and the book under discussion has barely been mentioned (but plenty of back-patting about the author’s supposed difficulty tho)

Read more than usual in 2025, thanks in part to the long bus rides to visit my brother in the hospital, and though I finished other books this year (I’m pretty bad at remembering when I read things), I did memorably start a new project to randomly select books from my library. (1/6)

I mean, in 2025 my brother was diagnosed with, and beat, cancer. That was a big one, but I also celebrated 5 years with my partner and participated in (by conservative estimate) 11 art shows

This time of year I always think of this deliciously unhinged photo shoot with Truman Capote & Andy Warhol for High Times magazine's 1978 Xmas issue, with Capote soused to the gills & Warhol gamely playing along as Santa. I want someone to write an extended oral history of this photo shoot alone
