I would theoretically like to make some amount of money that I can put toward making more games but id rather people just play the damn thing

god forbid people get angry when the platform they're relying on for revenue explodes them into a million pieces

making games that are not just adult or erotic but are also interested in exploring more transgressive theming (something only 'real' art is allowed to do) will cause people to hand-wring over having to even vaguely defend you while you lose any and all structural material support

i hadn't considered there were more aspects to my personality other than being a lesbian. perhaps i have made a mistake

i like many things about Itch and they are no doubt better than Steam, that's for sure. but they did really fuck up on that one and didn't need defending. and i continue to be disturbed by how much people in the indie world displace all their values onto particular platforms

i mean i'll have the odd gundam BL pitcher here n there don't get me wrong but the rate of BPM (boys per minute) here is kind of low

it's true... i love collecting word soup ingredients to use for later... and i love having esoteric opinions like 'signalis is mid' and 'hey you pikachu is fucking awesome'

as it turns out years of being in environments where harsh judges of character being made if you didn't like the 'right' things or if you didn't have the 'right' opinion on a piece of art-turned-exam in an exercise in thought termination made me feel strange about wanting to make my own assessments

you know what. this kind of hypno i can get on board with

and if you do self-censor you STILL get defunded. especially if it's queer. i don't think this will last forever, but living in this current moment where people have their potential livings annihilated with no grace by the fickle conservative whims of payment processors or monopolies is grim

either people self-censor because of fear of retaliation or a need to make back production costs or a desire to make their game more of a capital-P Product, or you don't self-censor and then you get delisted/banned with no transparency and intentionally vague reasoning and are cut off from earnings

they're a total black box. some suspect games get approved just fine some innocuous games get trapped in the hell dimension and no one knows why. the only consistent themes is if you have anything even slightly gay you're playing russian roulette on hard mode
