Childhood lessons from my mother, a public educator, that continue to guide me today: “always consider the source” and “you are the company you keep”.

💯 dumpster fire: “an utterly calamitous or mismanaged situation or occurrence: DISASTER” (Merriam-Webster) 🔥

I overheard a colleague describe HC restructuring as “an anthill turned upside down” which is a bang on description too.
a dumpster is on fire in a flooded area with the words everything 's fine below it .

I’m sorry this is happening to you and all the stress that comes with it. You are an excellent communicator, brimming with integrity, and always well prepared. You’ve got this Nate.

Many sources specify he was only “interim CEO”. Given AHS as the provincial health authority died yesterday (Dec. 1), the timing tracks. AHS is now a provincial health corp. for hospital services.

Wonder if he’ll get his old job back given there are 4 health ministers? 👀

We need more politicians who seek the fame of the pulley or the buttonhole... the fame synonymous with reliable function, silent necessity, and enduring purpose.

So many seem to prioritize the wrong kind of fame or reasons for public service.

There is no chance of her United “Regressive” Conservative Party ever being confused with progress.

Big Bird (Hey, he’s real to me!)

I love him to this day because of his relationship with Snuffleupagus and the lesson they taught society about believing children, especially when there are disclosures of abuse.

I was honestly too distracted by the green grass and leaves on trees 🤯 Buried in snow and cold here in Alberta. Another reason to move to Nanaimo 😉

Here’s an interview with Smith when she went to Japan and South Korea in April 2025. Lots of oil and gas talk.

A pro-privatization opinion piece from the same doc who promoted “vaccination and masking misinformation on social media…Chin's Twitter feed [was] filled with retweets that question COVID-19 lockdowns and the value of vaccines”.

UCP has paved the way for his opinions.

Has there been an indication Paediatric surgeries in private facilities is coming next down the pipe? For example, appendix, tonsils, broken bones? Could those be done outside of a hospital?

I had to look up “Schadenfreude” 🤓

This will be my new cheer every time a UCP MLA is recalled.

Can you speak more on the critical shortage of anesthesiologists? Is there a shortage even for the public system? Or was the shortage created because the same number of anesthesiologists are dividing their time more and more between both systems?

How about a full guardrail on any privatization?

The costs for the Hub lab was included in the total $125 million the UCP wasted.

The UCP gov’t has also stripped away our social safety net and created an affordability crisis which impacts health. Addressing the Social Determinants of Health and investing in prevention would reduce strain on a public HC system. Imagine if we invested time and money into keeping people healthy?
November 27, 2025 at 1:19 AM
It hit hard to hear Dr. Kumar say there may come a point when the privatization of our HC system will be irreversible. I bet many folks in the room recall paying out-of-pocket for a hospital bill. We need more engagement from young people. This is their future and will have to live with the outcome.
