Visited a couple over the past few years and never found them worthwhile. Glad they never expanded to the Portland area. Would’ve been a waste of space. I’d rather shop at Walmart.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain that someone giving their Nobel Peace Prize to someone else doesn't make that person an official Nobel Peace Prize winner. Just like my mom giving me her TCBY Employee of the Month award from 1987 didn't make me an official TCBY Employee of the Month winner.

25 years ago, Montgomery Ward announced it would shut down after 128 years. This marked the end of one of the biggest pioneers in American retailing. I took this picture of the Wards store at Metro North Mall in Kansas City, Missouri in June 2010. One of my all-time favorite photos I’ve taken.

Sad news this morning. The Mavericks were one of the most unique bands out there and “What a Crying Shame” is one the finest country songs of the ‘90s.
Raul Malo, the operatic vocalist and co-founder of the Grammy-winning, Latin-tinged country band the Mavericks, has died at age 60.

Sad news this morning. The Mavericks were one of the most unique bands out there and “What a Crying Shame” is one the finest country songs of the ‘90s.

My prediction is that Nordstrom will finally pull the plug on its main downtown Portland store by the end of 2026. Department stores are dying and the ones still hanging only seem to perform well in major suburban shopping malls like Washington Square in Tigard.
