Most woke? We should ban SUVs and large trucks in urban areas, as they are incompatible with urban life and pose severe dangers to cyclists and pedestrians.

You want to "Make America Healthy Again?" Get those asses walking or pedaling, babes.

🚨 NEW: The majority holder of the world's genetic sequence data is a bad actor who can cut off access to critics and competing services. We've tolerated this for years, and now it threatens the pandemic treaty. Time for WHO to step in. With @ctrlalttim.com: www.thinkglobalhealth.org/article/to-f...

doing my best to keep up on my schoolwork and finish a presentation despite being sick.

Unsure what I did to upset the tech gods, but the day has been a non stop struggle against constant glitches, files getting perma-locked on devices, switching devices only to have pictures disappear from files

Tangent to this, reminder to get your titers checked. I did, turns out I was no longer immune to measles. Was able to get another MMR shot.
Get your Covid and flu boosters.

Vaccines are one of the true modern miracles!
I started studying the anti-vaccine movement more than fifteen years ago along with one of my colleagues, Dr. Kacey Ernst. It was clear to us even then that this movement was organized, effective, and growing.

Unfortunately, many of our colleagues at the time felt it wasn’t a problem. 1/2

We here in the NE need to work on creating a railroad of sorts for those who want or need to escape dangerous states.
Whether it’s for trans folks, or people with kids who need to get them out of medically dangerous situations, such as states that are pushing to eliminate vaccination etc etc

Brookings article about emergence of a ‘knowledge and idea economy’ in contrast to one based on production of goods reminded me of this bk a bunch of my vaguely hippy friends were into in the late 90s.
Where the characters give someone like $5 after every conversation.

This is a small snow plow for sidewalks

If your city plows the roads but leaves sidewalks up to property owners, your city hates pedestrians.

Also, being reminded that we permitted our government to create an artificial scarcity of doctors and other healthcare professionals in the late 20th century for completely inane reasons.
To research 20th century politics is to see an exact trajectory of how we got into ourselves into this mess
Currently doing an academic research proposal on future economic considerations within the region.
The agony of learning 18% of US gdp is spent on healthcare expenditures and is only expected to increase with current trends, private equity, and our aging population

The UK instated the NHS, a form of universal Healthcare, in 1948.
Finland 1972
Spain 1986
Germany 1988

The US wasted so much time and energy in the 20th century preventing its citizens from getting universal Healthcare.
Now, we all have to suffer the consequences of that inaction.

Update on below post: Today, the County Legislature passed my request to provide @feedmorewny.org $1,000,000 to purchase food for area food pantries due to the federal government's halting of SNAP payments.

Thank you to the members of the legislature for supporting this important measure.
In order to help prevent people from going hungry due to the SNAP shutdown, I am seeking legislative approval of a $1 million allocation to @feedmorewny.org to purchase 354,000 pounds of food for local food pantries. 140,000 county residents rely on SNAP. We must help them in their time of need.
