And please also, AGAIN, never forget that they are inherently unethical to use because no one gave permission for their research or writing to be used in it. It is all stolen, and if you're using the plagiarism machine, please keep that in mind.
My friends, I say this with all the love in my heart: Right now might not be the moment for “But we should be TOLERANT and NUANCED about the plagiarism machines!”

Your tolerance and “nuance” will be weaponised by the grifters and their apologists. Please respect yourselves more.

Feral Hearts

Two odd beings find tenderness, or a quiet kind of love that doesn’t need naming. What they find together may be love, or safety, or simply the relief of being seen. The world around them mirrors this truth: bones feed roots, insects thrive, and so-called unwanted beings persist. -

I've never lived with a cat before so it's been a fun new experience with my flatmate's cat Chakka. She was doing a lot of screaming and it turns out, standing on my flatmate's eye during the night and was banished to the living room, where she was being so sad and pitiful and allegedly unloved

Honestly people trying to "reclaim" Harry Potter by getting their fanfic publish or queering it or whatever as if that's going to somehow spite JKR are annoying. All you're doing is keeping those books culturally relevant because you can't let go of something you read when you were 8. Grow up.

4 sonnets! All about my bed, it's assembly, disassembly, reassembly and uses in between
Attempting to write sonnets, specifically inspired by how Marilyn Hacker approached the form - quoting here from the Yale Herald "Hacker explained that the experience of writing a sonnet is comparable to 'moving into a small room and discovering there is space for all the furniture'."

In the midst of everything, some good personal news: the worm is out of the bag! My debut collection Folkish will be published by @ninearchespress.bsky.social this spring ✨🪱

It's full of ghosts, worms, saints, and folklore. It's also absolutely furious. I hope you guys enjoy it. 💚

We have to get rid of the things that no longer serve us (lipbalm in a metal tin that welds shut between uses and is now completely unopenable)

😡 this means: no jury trials for robbery; for serious assaults, including SA; for fraud; for breaching protective orders. The kind of work I prosecute and defend on a daily basis.

✍️ The CBA are against this and so am I. Write to your MP and tell them this isn’t how you fix our broken system.

A good description of a frequent experience I have of reading fiction and non-fiction supposedly meant for adults that is written like YA
It's a combination of in-jokey cleverness, pick-me cuteness, and manipulation that treats the reader as susceptible, basic & infantilised. Children's books don't need that fake shit (kids are super good at retaining info, contextual interpretation & bullshit detection) & adult fic is ruined by it.

Right. I'm having writer's block so I'm starting a little joy project. I'm going to write a little 1000-word essay every week for the next 16 weeks. Just for the joy of it, but yes, it would be nice if some other people read it too. Week 1 here:

You have to take photos of your friends, on cameras not phones, and print them out and put them places where you can see them, framed or unframed, doesn't matter, it is important that images of your friends don't just live in your phone

For Halloween, I did a double feature of The Vourdalak and Lovely, Dark and Deep, the linking thread of family and the forest 🍃 I liked the fairytale quality of The Vourdalak, with it's puppetry and the way Sdenka's jewelery made her movements sound like bells in the wind
