Disgusted by this attack on human rights by Alberta's government. Denying the autonomy of young transgender people- and limiting access to information for all students- does not protect kids and teens. On the contrary, it puts them at risk.

VicPD wants another $11 million in 2026. That could pay for all the city's proposed cuts. Or for housing. Victoria councillors will be talking about the police budget on November 20th. Tell them you don't want 25 more police officers and $90 million spent on police!

Our tentative agreement was ratified! Super proud of everyone in the @bcgeu.bsky.social, our time on the picket lines paid off. Thank you to our bargaining committee! And thinking of the @pea.org members who are still in the process of getting a fair deal from the employer.

Without getting too far into it, here's a really incredible snapshot of what various community groups in Victoria feel are priorities for the 2026 budget. There are disturbing truths in here about what life in the City is like if you're in an equity-deserving demographic.

It's such essential, public service reporting that I don't see from other local outlets
VicPD held a party for their outgoing and incoming chiefs this summer at Government House. They talked repeatedly about how much work it was, and the event seemed strange, so I FOI'd the costs. They spent $22,015 in public money on this event. 🧵 www.needsmorespikes.com/blog/vicpd-p... #yyj #cdnfoi

Gross that BC gov is spending so much on FIFA: The opening match for the U.S., to be played at Inglewood, Calif., had prices ranging from $560 to $2,735 when sales opened. On the resale site, at least one ticket for that opening U.S. match was listed for more than $60,000. www.cbc.ca/sports/socce...
