Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

If someone is estranged from their parents, please please don’t give them the ‘but they’re your mum/ dad’
They were their mum / dad when they did the worst imaginable things to their own kids.
It’s not up to the children to make it ok. It’s up to them to live well.

A million moons ago I used to tutor and religious students were the most frustrating because they would consistently use God as a source. Not even the Bible, just God. I once asked a student, "How would you convince someone who does not believe in God that your argument is correct?"

He could not even conceive of the fact that someone might not believe in God. I told him he was better off choosing another topic for his essay. I think he had picked abortion for his subject.
