A single event of “SUFFICIENTLY ADVANCED
INCOMPETENCE” is indeed
“INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM MALICE,” whereas multiple targeted events are not incompetence nor malice but pure sabotage.

Hence the need for Hanlon's Razor; never attributed to malice what is adequately explained by stupidity.
Add George Carlin's warning; Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

The assumption here that the appropriate response is punishment. But other responses may have better outcomes.
Punishment may teach the recipient new ways to do harm. A better result would be achieved by making the offender harmless.
Not as satisfying as punishment, but better harm reduction.

I like that phrase, "moral incompetence". I think it captures the current trajectory quite well. Many people think they're are acting morally. They greatly resent being called immoral. But they are completely incompetent at moral reasoning.

Taking the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) test many times isn't good news. Repeated is to check the rate of decline, in cases of dementia or Alzheimer. It's also used to measure rate of recovery after a stroke. It doesn't require to solve a trigonometry problem.

If anybody's 80 year old Uncle Don were online at 2am yelling about a cognitive test & fabricating a rational for bad business deals- a loving family would change the Ap passwords, have a grandkid make a word doc 'Ap' that just went to family, and get him to doctors & distract the poor man.
