I'd argue we need more conversation, not less. You can't build, sustain or grow communities, care, or resistance in isolation.

What would benefit us a great deal, however, is to end these confected 'debates' that are anything but. And the endless rehearsal of limited, hateful, inaccurate narratives

The thing with the phone ins is that it's 'pouvoir' Politics masquerading as 'puissance' micropolitics. As Petra says, make phone ins about people's actual lives, not their big P politics.
I'd say keep the phone ins but change the focus. Phone ins work very well in terms people connecting within their communities; raising awareness; sharing stories about nature, hobbies, pets; or swapping tips on DIY, gardening, baking and crafting. And advice phone ins can be lifesavers.
One way to take some of the heat out of politics, which is within the BBC's control, is to drop phone-ins and vox pops.

According to the (awful) lobby hack / insiders / 'let me show you behind the curtain' / politics understanders Mahmood is also McSweeney's preferred future candidate. Labour, if you want any future, get bloody rid.
Congratulations to Labour who have won the coveted Tommy Robinson endorsement. Excited for sensibles to explain to me why I have to vote for the people enacting actual fascist policy.

Bluntly, it’s no coincidence that we have spent fifteen years screaming in mortal terror at the same groups of Asian sex offenders, throughout the whole period when our ruling class has been exposed as inveterate arse grabbers and sex criminals.

Labour's strategy of telling its supporters to back Reform-style policies, or get a Reform Government, is the politics of the protection racket and it is not going to work

At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!?

Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

I think mine is that woke hasn't gone far enough. It was a line of flight that got captured by capital and became molar (producing woke/not woke break lines). We need to find new lines of flight, molecularise woke, to turn woke into a becoming.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

My most woke opinion is that "woke" at root is a beautiful concept: active socio-political consciousness in the context of the Black American liberation struggle. And the way it's been turned into a sneering pejorative is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen in Western political discourse.

If your politics have become “We must do fascism-lite, or the fascists will win”, then the fascists have already won.
This is political blackmail dressed up as pragmatism. Justifying their nasty policies with “Reform will be worse”.
