I was pacing and fretting before last night's Winnipeg Video Game orchestra concert. There was no need. It went great, and we just about sold out the place. It feels amazing to get to play all this music, to be part of it as it's just getting started. I can't wait for what's next.

Winnipeg! This is tonight! Come to Jubilee Place and hear some amazing video game music! wvgo.ca/tickets for tickets!

Did a bit of shopping last night and was looking for a black t-shirt, and one of the teenagers running the place held up a small and said, "maybe this would work?" I loved her optimism but told her it definitely wouldn't fit, not anymore.

There is no such thing as a non-human artist. This kind of sloppy personification itself speaks to some level of cultural bankruptcy --

There isn't going to be any end to this "AI artists" shit until people collectively get off Spotify and make intentional choices about what they listen to.

One thing I've noticed on Reddit: Google's surfacing of old threads on various topics has made necroposting (replying to an old/dead post, generally considered a faux pas) incredibly common. A generation of people who don't know what a forum is are remaking forum etiquette.

My first job was working on financial planning software, and when I used the mortgage calculator, I almost couldn't believe it. I learned the crazy amount of money you save by making an annual lump sum payment in addition to your monthly ones. It's literally life-changing.
Every reporter or financial analyst writing about the 'math' of a 50-year mortgage better include what the **actual** cost is to the borrower over time. It is a fucking joke. Show the full amortization schedule and how much one really ends up paying!!

Thinking about Jadzia, C.G., and our ephemeral digital lives - Break Into Chat
Synchronet creator Rob Swindell recently shared some sad news: longtime BBSer C.G. Learn died earlier this month. I didn’t know C.G. very well, but we interacted occasionally over the years on Dovenet...

Finally changed my Facebook profile picture from the unintentional glamour shot of my early 30s (taken in 2012 or 13 on a point and shoot by an admin assistant for the company Sharepoint, the camera accidentally set to sepia) to one that's actually representative: long hair, beard, glasses, grey, ..

Chris Wolf at Classic 107 wrote a great article on the Winnipeg Video Game Orchestra and our upcoming concert next Friday. Give it a read, and if you're in Winnipeg, maybe I'll see you then?

Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵
