Okay, Bluesky, I've been putting this off, but it's time to dragon up.

Hi, I'm JP, and I write books, mostly speculative, very queer. Sometimes I also talk about niche sports, how I cope with my weird brain, and cats.

Mouth and Muscle - The Rumpus
In Tierney’s shows, hockey runs on two blades: muscle and mouth. You need the athletic strength, speed, and skill — and if an opponent asks you, “Nice onesie, does it come in mens?” You need to be abl...

Buried in this article is the astonishing news that "Across the state Democrats have recruited candidates to run in all 150 state House districts, 16 state Senate districts and every other state and federal contest on the ballot". G-d bless Texas, get on their level.

Federal judge has ordered the release of Liam Ramos (the bunny hat boy) and his father. A brief and rather remarkable order. Clearly written to be shared widely, so please do. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Hey Critters!

As a quick note, our usual 9AM PT rebroadcast will be postponed this Friday, January 30th, so that everyone at Critical Role has the option to participate in the Nationwide General Strike in response to the ongoing brutality seen across our country, but especially in Minneapolis.

I post this link merely as a cultural curiosity and not so that anyone could print one if, say, whistles were banned. Obviously that would be wrong.

Reminder that, as of the latest reports, Liam Ramos is still in prison in Texas - now for 5 days.

His parents are legal asylum seekers with no criminal record.

The fascists are weak and beatable. The fascists are weak and beatable.

I keep running it through my head and it's acquiring the cadence of "they're taking the hobbits to Isengard" which, for me, is not a bad thing.
The people of Minnesota won and the regime is losing. Thousands of neighbors rallied together day after day and proved that these fascists are weak and beatable. The people rejected them, and we’ll continue to reject them.

drinking, age 37:

1.) Beers are tasty. I would like to drink one.
2.) Oh, but there's stuff I want to do sober!
3.) I will wait until I have finished my activities to have my beer.
4.) Whoops, it got close to my bedtime!
5.) I don't want alcohol to mess up my sleep.
6.) I'll have a sparkling water.

SHARON OWENS!

I cannot wait for you to be my mayor.
This is the most fired up I’ve heard Owens. She’s talking about snow removal (Syracuse gonna Syracuse), the I-81 community grid, and HOUSING, HOUSING, HOUSING, but also non-cooperation with ICE

Still thinking about this meeting today. I’m not one to preach, but as dire as everything is nationally, it’s got me out here encouraging everyone to devote at least 25%(?) of your political energy to local electoral politics this year

Veterinary well visit update: Sweet Kitten says the carrier is TORTURE and a WAR CRIME and moreover, hiss.

Spicy Kitten is alert and curious, but wishes to complain that the cat backpack is a serious downgrade from the warm lap she was snuggling before we left. I agree with her on all of the above.

I signed my kid up for a coding extracurricular through his school and the instructor is prompting him to use AI to flesh out his prompts. He has advocated for his own ethical objections to AI and his own ability to be creative, but using AI is in fact mandatory.

How much do I fight about this?
