Long-overdue first watch of a slasher series, Guillermo's sumptuous take on a classic, and a somber Australian flick that seeps into your bones. #LastFourWatched #Letterboxd #FilmSky

How it started: "The Epstein files will reveal all the Hollywierdos and perverts on the left!"

How it's going: "TECHNICALLY it's "ephebephilia" and it's not that bad."

What this must do to Megyn Kelly's soul, if she has one.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

The obsession with lore and continuity in franchises is dumb. We don't have to explain why Bond has been middle-aged since the 1960s, why explain this? Just pick a new lead actor and write a spy story.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Especially when Dems have the added leverage of having already caved!
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

Mamdani is going to implement Shyamalan Law. It will seem fine until the shocking twist.
Mamdani is going to implement Sha-Na-Na Law. Based in the sensibilities of the 50s but incongruously showing up at Woodstock.

A fascinating and intense psychological drama, an underwhelming reboot, a perfectly whelming reboot, and the worst movie starring Robert Englund as Freddy Kreuger. #LastFourWatched #FilmSky

When facing a strong incumbent who is likely to win, both parties run weak candidates who "deserve their shot." Career pols that excite no one, like Bob Dole, John Kerry and Mitt Romney. Dems didn't think they could beat W so they didn't try.
This NYT Obit of VP Cheney mentions something that seems impossible in retrospect: That he and GWB were re-elected *after* it was proved there were no WMDs in Iraq.

A ★★ review of The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (2025)

The. Single. Thing. that makes Bluesky great is the lack of a fucking algorithm. I guess go ahead and make it like every other shitty site so I can be free of it?
“As users ‘dislike’ posts, the system will learn what sort of content they want to see less of. This will help to inform more than just how content is ranked in feeds, but also reply rankings.”

My last four - almost done with my Nightmare on Elm Street rewatch (reviewed them out of order but watched in sequence), and the new IKWYDLS is solid if not thrilling.

The state of modern media:
I'm watching the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
HBO Max has all of them EXCEPT Freddy's Dead.
None of the 5 services I pay for has that one.
But I just got it on disc!
But they sent UltraHD instead of Blu-Ray.
But the box set came with a digital code!

Dealing with a severely clogged shower drain and I love how every piece of advice says "Don't pour harsh chemicals down the drain."

Even though we have a multi-million dollar industry and a whole aisle of Target specifically for chemicals to pour down a clogged drain.

"Less focus on identity and cultural issues" is code for "Throw LGBTQ folks under the bus.

How the FUCK can you say we should talk less about climate change or abortion rights?

"If we sound just like Republicans people will vote for us!" NO. If we DEFEND CORE DEM VALUES people get excited.
i'm fine with a deeper focus on economic issues over social issues but man does plank 2 give the game away
