I once made a game with a swingable crowbar as a weapon. The damage was a function of the velocity.

Prev position was initialized to origin, so if the player was standing a few hundred meters away the crowbar would spawn into their hand, calculate its velocity as mach 700, and liquefy the player.

I’m at Times Square, where an emergency “No War On Venezuela” protest just took to the street. Easily a thousand people here in real-feel 20°F weather.

“No more coups, no more wars, Venezuela’s not yours!”

“No boots on the ground no bombs in the air, U.S. out of everywhere!”

A team of US scientists just cured Alzheimer’s in mice — and there is now hope that the disease can be reversed in humans.

Hey folks. It's just shy of New Year's Day. The world is a hurricane of broken glass, but we can still exert control in ways that are meaningful.

Little changes to ourselves and small changes to our local environment add up.

What are your New Year's Resolutions?

For Americans: A lot of workplaces aren't giving medical providers any extra time to handle messages coming in from their online portals. These messages can take a huge amount of uncompensated(!) time to handle. Ask your provider if they'd prefer you schedule a video visit if you can. #healthcare

The "value of art" has been on my mind recently, so I just want to say: if you are creating something that is attempting to convey some aspect of the human experience (no matter how small, or silly, or if it's a tiny part in a larger collaborative work), that is art.

Sorry, let me be more constructive, here's a comprehensive guide on why age verification not only _does not_ work, but cannot work — and harms everyone, of all ages, on the internet: www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...
Age Verification Is Coming For the Internet. We Built You a Resource Hub to Fight Back.
Age verification laws are proliferating fast across the United States and around the world, creating a dangerous and confusing tangle of rules about what we’re all allowed to see and do online. That's...

Adding on, even if your work contains no depictions of anything that can be construed as sexual, people acting in bad faith can report your game as lewd for having homoromantic content or for having non-cishet characters. Bad actors will bank on vagaries of law and the indifference of companies.
A lot of creators essentially saying "My work might contain nudity and sexual situations, but it's NOT porn. My work is important and artistic, while their work is dirty, which is still okay to hate and censor." But guess what! The purity squad makes no such distinction.

It doesn't matter how despicable a person is, mocking their innate physical appearance is always wrong.

Not because it's cruel to them, but because it perpetuates the harmful idea that innate physical appearance has anything to do with one's character / beliefs / actions.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
