Once again reminding people that indie authors are almost always down to hand out review copies.

There's no reason to pirate their books.

The more Star Wars that comes out the more I realize how much it benefited from an air of mystery around its wider galaxy and lore.

Every new spinoff, sequel or prequel is just sapping appeal from the franchise at this point.

Been screeching about this a lot in recent years, as the Amazon boycott push intensifies: supporting actual authors has gotten utterly forgotten in the process.

I see people constantly promoting sites that are either A) pirating, that give us nothing, or B) sites that pay authors next to nothing.

Please nobody do this. Unless you're on VERY close, intimate terms with them.

And also FYI: your thoughts are not in need of policing. Think whatever you want. It doesn't affect the world around you unless you choose to take action on it.

One day she tells me people are using digital publishing to get their stories out there. I poo poo it as vanity publishing.

...I was really wrong.

Most people who defend capitalism have no idea what it means. It's not trade. Trade existed millennia before anyone ever so much as thought about capitalism.

Capitalism is the idea that the economy should be entirely run by a handful of rich assholes like Musk, Zuckerberg, etc., for THEIR profit.

The only justification anyone needs for accessing health care is that they need it. The only justification anyone needs for accessing an abortion is that the don't want to be pregnant any longer. The reasons are inconsequential. There should be no patient facing laws around accessing abortion care.
Kathleen Stock has written an article against "abortion permissiveness". She claims abortion requires "justification" saying the state should limit "unacceptable decision-making" by women about their own bodies.

This is who anti-trans activists proclaim as the feminist thought leaders of our time.
