I helped mobilize a group of neighbors to provide direct aid to nearly 50 families who are in hiding from ICE.

These folks deserve fresh, familiar foods. So we're purchasing groceries direct from neighborhood Latino markets whenever we can.

Venmo @kristina-halvorson to help, and please repost.

The media's attention to Minnesota is drifting.

This weekend, ICE had a road block at 694 and Central in Fridley, where they were asking for licenses and papers for every car that wanted to get through.

Don't look away.

#expedition33 has really grown on me, but it's one of those games where the story is so key that you can't really talk about where you are in the game -- or even look up tips to get past some obstacles -- without generating or reading spoilers.

Google's AI overview served up blurbs and links to AI-slop video trailers for "Leviathan" featuring Dwayne Johnson and "Mermaid Invasion" featuring Scarlett Johansson when I searched for ocean-themed sci-fi in 2026.

They're not real movies, nor is "Megalodon: Fury of the Sea."

With @adafruit.com raising the alarm about bills in NY and WA that would require 3D printers to refuse to print gun parts, here is a quick post on the technical problems with this approach (regardless of your thoughts about gun control)

Bizarrely locked out of Facebook because it's insisting I enter a code from an authentication account I never setup. Can't use the "hacked" process because Facebook insists I've never used any of my devices to log in to before. Tried to set up a new account and it demands an authentication code...

Really interesting analysis here on how claims get amplified by our current media environment (and a rebuttal of sorts to those who argue that Avi Loeb's alien spacecraft hype is good because any science engagement is good engagement):

The interstellar visitor 3I/ATLAS ☄️ cruising through our Solar System is no alien spaceship and won't hit Earth.

Still, the buzz around it is far from unfounded 🤩

Are quality video producers effectively ceding long-form content to AI slop mills? YouTube and the like pay more for shorts, so makers who used to post polished makes just seem to do shorts. And you get people doing unscripted rants while cheap AI videos pop up for trending news or science topics.

Oh, the joys of a password reset form that blanks out the new password you're entering while simultaneously hiding the password requirements, that also hides the password requirements if you go off the tab to generate a password to meet the requirements.

The dumbest thing about the "universe is a simulation" theory is that the simplest sufficient simulation is whatever you're perceiving, not the whole universe. Congrats, you've reduced your reality to the delusions of a brain in a box.
