Listen I think in Hollywood more people need to take risks on original scripts and ideas, get more directors making more work from more writers, and stop relying so much on IP.
Except for the Rocketeer. If you need a script for a sequel, Disney? Call me. I have like eight.

My wife is a professional opera singer and my 16-yo daughter has been massively into show tunes but recently started learning opera with my wife as her teacher. I feel like an eyewitness to the birth of genius, y’all. She is. So. So. Good.

My newest creation is Amelia the Lovely and the Terrible. I designed and hand-sewed her, and I hand-embroidered all her flowers and markings. She is lovely to good people and terrible to bad ones. She enjoys coming up with new blessings, curses, and cookie recipes.

Favorite book: Reacher, Lee Child*. Great collection of essays about the genesis, growth, and journey of Jack Reacher and the man who writes him.
Surprise beer: a berry pancake sour from Imprint. Reacher loves pancakes, so it felt like a match.

Mystery beer: Thomas Hardy’s Ale, a venerable English Barleywine (1986 vintage on left, 2024 on right).
Favorite book: The Black Company series by Glen Cook. Grimdark low-ish fantasy before it was mainstreamed. Rough and ready.

Favorite Book: The Dark Tower, #7 (well, 8) in Uncle Stevie’s magnum opus. Never cried so hard at a novel. And no, that’s not the horn of Arthur Eld (though I wish).
