From the people whose lobbying brought you Patrick O’Donovan’s recent unlawful age verification plans.
When the self-proclaimed champions of free speech become drivers of censorship. This is the real #cancelculture on women, queer people, people of colour, workers and human rights activists.

That’s why @socialistsanddemocrats.eu call for an inquiry committee on #BigTech in the European Parliament.

‘consider not giving presents this holiday season’ 💀
British Library staff asked for a decent pay. Instead they got ‘a few money-saving present ideas’, such as ‘consider not giving presents this holiday season’. They are on strike this week. I wrote about it for @lrb.co.uk. www.lrb.co.uk/blog/2025/de...

China is using surveillance technology - much of it originating in the U.S. - to cement its power at home and vastly amplify it abroad. The story of retired Chinese official Li Chuanliang, who now lives in Texas, shows how Beijing uses such tech overseas.

International corporations can now sue the state(us) if our hard fought rights affects their profits. Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, as per usual, fucking us while sharing insane videos of how we can deal with moving back in with our parents because they've being fucking us over for decades.
Scandalously at 1am, the government has just pushed through a law with far reaching ramifications.

It allows them to sign up to a parallel court process only accessible by corporations. There they can sue Ireland if we do anything to interfere with their "right" to profit.

I'm sickened that the government voted CETA through at 1am last night. It's an anti-people, pro-corporation deal that allows Canadian investment companies to sue us, the Irish people. So a Canadian company can buy up housing & sue the Irish state if we introduce rent controls. #Speirgorm #Speirgorm

An there we have it. Simons aim as true as ever, slapping that nail right on its head. Great wee thread about where we are at and what might be coming
Patrick O’Donovan went out on the national airwaves with a half-baked, bad set of ideas about linking access to online spaces to our PPS numbers.

If he had these ideas himself, it would be a Christmas miracle.

But in fact, they are the Zuckerberg lobbying aim across the world.

There was an ongoing campaign by a local community group for the past two years to upgrade the public park & playground, but Mayo CoCo ignored them, letting the playground rot - all while liaising with the hotel for the sale of the public land.

It's all very clichéd (They paved paradise etc).
