with everyone doing frame-by-frame analysis to decide if max or oscar were ahead at some imaginary line... maybe there is a simpler way?

Why don't they just have white line perpendicular to the apex across the track? #Formula1

the new ferries won't have Electric Propulsion like iRex, right?

but maybe can be upgraded in the future, if someone decides to spend money i guess.

none of the huge emissions reductions we were promised then. #nzpol

A new supermarket is not going to deliver cheaper prices when we only have two 'competing' businesses

Nicola Willis brands Labour MP ‘ridiculous’ for opposing fast-tracking of new supermarket
Duncan Webb believes the Edgeware community should have a say on the plans for a new Woolworths supermarket, but the finance minister says he needs to “get on board”.

"Mitchell, who returned from a week-long visit to India alongside Luxon on Saturday, said he was briefed on his return but didn’t condemn the delay."

Luxon seems to be blaming Health NZ for not being informed, while ignoring his mate Mitchell. Why are we hearing about this on Tuesday?

One of my favourite datasets out today - Stats NZ business financial data (used to calculate GDP). Quick 🧵...
This is the total 'NZ Inc' picture (adjusted for inflation).

Andrew Bayly isn't climbing to the top of Everest. He is only climbing to Base Camp, to clear his head.

Understandable, as Base Camp is on the shoulder of Everest, or the possibly the upper arm. #nzpol

With all of the people resigning in the past week, I wonder if we missed someone?

Did Luxon resign and forget to tell everyone? #nzpol

Did Luxon just say "if you don't like the police service we provide, the next time someone steals your marmite sandwich you can just perform a citizen's arrest"? #nzpol

Did Luxon just say "For God's Sake, just get a free University education, then leave the country for 30 years, so you can come back and say you are a proud New Zealander that is doing it tough, but is also entititled and sorted." #nzpol

Today on @theconversation.com I wrote about how NZTA’s own commissioned study shows speed limit reductions provide big economic benefits and a massive drop in fatalities and serious injuries—yet the government is still increasing speed limits.

False economies: the evidence shows higher speed limits don’t make financial sense
Documents show the government is going against expert advice and strong economic evidence by insisting higher speed limits will improve productivity.

"I think there's just a little bit of humanity involved in making sure that he had told the relevant people and then that's been made public at the latest opportunity." - Nicola Willis

Latest? Surely she means 'earliest'? but then again she has a degree in English literature, so latest it is.

Bayly's actions last week should have been a gift for Luxon to demonstrate decisive leadership, after his previous poor handling of the Bayly situation.

Instead he flubs it again by letting him resign.

“Well, we’ve got about 2-3% electric vehicle penetration - it ain’t gonna change in a hurry,” Luxon said.

omg. does that mean he understands what he did? 30% of vehicles registered were EVs with the subsidy, dropped to 10% and every new 'car' is a ford ranger.
