Hugely concerning that govt is considering slashing funding for desperately needed home insulation to cut bills in the short term. It’s vital to protect the Warm Homes Plan for long term investment to fix poor housing. Why not use a wealth tax to cut energy bills instead, Rachel?

Analysis from @friends-earth.bsky.social provides new insight on environmental injustice in the UK:

“… people of colour, those on low incomes and non-drivers are now disproportionately overrepresented in the 5% of neighbourhoods still exposed to the most extreme air pollution.”
Low-income areas in England and Wales face worst air pollution, analysis finds
Exclusive: Experts say impact on people of colour and those who do not drive is ‘grave environmental injustice’

In the Netherlands, cycling is as much a social activity as it is a healthy, efficient, and sustainable way to get from A to B.

The key? Good infrastructure planning and design!

Greens - Lower bills through nationalising our public services, wealth tax on assets and huge increase in investment in our public services.

Labour - ID Cards, random statements about flags and Austerity 2.0.

But apparently the Green Party are the "vibes era?"

Make it make sense!
Politics is in a vibes era. Nigel Farage and Zack Polanski are proof of that. But maybe Keir Starmer can take positivity from Ruben Amorim.

Very important journalism. Probably not a suprise but it matters - any councils leaving these flag displays up knowing full well where they came from can no longer hide behind plausible deniability.
It's not a grassroots working class movement.

"Wherever we looked for prominent flaggers and leaders of this movement, we found people smugglers and sex doll salesmen, people with dubious criminal pasts and people willing to put in a good word for Adolf Hitler."

"but it's half term!" - traffic literally down compared to the other days of half term
Days 1 and 2 of the Oxford Congestion Charge (30/10) and car traffic is down by *one third* on St Clement's (1 of the 6 camers points).

This is extraordinary. I'm really interested to see what happens next week when half term is over & how the next few months pan out.

I made an infographic map. Oxford's Congestion Charge scheme (from 29th Oct) is not like most congestion charge schemes, because you can get to most streets in the city without being charged. My impression is a lot of people haven't realised this.

Of course, Greens have previous form on joining disastrous electoral pacts. Perhaps Zarah making the lack of reciprocal good faith from the other side so clear this early on might ironically help to avert another one.
Great discussion at TWT on how the left must unite — Your Party and the Greens — to keep Farage out of Downing Street.

But unity isn’t uniformity. Your Party will be truly anti-imperialist: no diplomatic ties with a genocidal, apartheid Israeli state and no greenwashing NATO.
