I've always been a big fan of Hugh Cook, whose Chronicles of the Age of Darkness were some of the weirdest fantasy works of the 80s. There's a new edition of his 10 book series coming out at the end of the month (I think ebook first, print later) and the

Brilliant. Jenrick says public sick of backstabbing as he hides the still bloody knife he used on Badenoch hastily behind his back.

Just finished Ashes of the Imperium by Chris Wraight. Well written and plotted and a good mixture of Space Marines hitting things with political manoeuvring on Terra. #blabklibrary #thescouring

Did my first bowel cancer screening specimen today as I’m 52. Slightly undignified crapping into a pot but must be done.

“Can’t Lose You” by Charles Kelly sounds as though it’s about to launch into “Big Scary Animal” by Belinda Carlisle. Get me Charlotte Caffey’s lawyers on the phone!

Quality. The incessant, throbbing piano bass line, and great vocals, guitar and piano solo. I liked it when I was 12 and it’s got better and better since.

this sounds really great (and Tim's anecdote about Duolingo rings hideously, painfully true), though I'm currently/still struggling through the C. Thi Nguyen edited Handbook of Philosophy of Games, so I very much must finish that before moving on to a new one
I have a new review in @theguardian.com today, & contrived to write it in such a way they illustrated it with Mario Odyssey. Very happy. It's of C Thi Nguyen's new nonfiction The Score - an excellent game-related book that... well, just read the review:

I saw Black Grape in December and, although it was a great gig, Shaun Ryder didn’t sound that well even though he still gave it 100%. He’s just said on BBC breakfast that he had pneumonia. Complete warrior/nutter.

Back then- Resident Evil 2. I didn’t have a N64 at the time and so didn’t play Ocarina of Time until later, which is my now choice.

All kicking off at New Hall prison tonight, which I can just about see from my house. I can also just about hear the singing/chanting in support of the lady on hunger strike.

Finished Stranger Things- no spoilers but I enjoyed it despite it having Lord of the Rings syndrome with endings. Might have teared up slightly when it did the Toy Story 3 bit.
