what follows immediately after the birthright clause? the privileges and immunities and due process clauses? and what follows them? the equal protection clause. all of this is explicitly to say, "the declaration is the constitutional law of the land"

the birthright clause was not just written to wipe dred scott off of the books, it was written to repudiate the *idea* behind dred scott, you might say the larger *ideological project* of dred scott. and the whole of section 1 of the 14th amendment is a constitutional statement of political equality

i think to understand the meaning of the birthright citizenship clause to the framers of the 14th amendment, you have to understand significance of dred scott to the civil war republican party. dred scott wasn't just a bad ruling, it was understood as a rejection of the declaration itself.

I can't wait until the United States cleanses itself of all the ugly traces of Donald Trump. Take his name off buildings. Remove all the tacky gold bric-a-brac from the White House walls. Bulldoze his vulgar ballroom. Restore MLK, Jr Day and Juneteenth at parks. #Fumigate
Donald Trump just removed Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the list of free entry days at national parks.

They are being replaced with Trump’s birthday.

When will the GOP learn that capitulating to a bully never appeases them. Trump won’t stop his intimidation and stochastic terrorism, and people have already died because of his rhetoric. They need to stand up to him. There is plenty of room in The Resistance for them.
An American president is pressuring politicians of his own party on social media by name, even after some of them have received threats and been swatted in the wake of prior Trump postings. This is what experts on political violence call "stochastic terrorism." www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Remember when Conservatives were all up in arms for years about Burisma and Hunter Biden? That was for about $1 million. Are they 620 times more angry about this? (Don’t misunderstand, influence peddling is not good, it is definitely corruption and we need better laws to keep it from happening).
A startup backed by Donald Trump Jr.'s venture capital firm just got a $620M loan from the DoD, months after the Pentagon gave a major drone contract to ANOTHER Trump Jr.-backed company.

The conservative movement has become a circle jerk. Kegsbreath handpicks “journalists” of the Pentagon press corps who are not allowed to report anything that hasn’t been approved by Kegsbreath, then the propagandists allowed into the Pentagon just stroke Kegsbreaths ego instead of reporting news.
Laura Loomer, Matt Gaetz and Mike Lindell TV are now among the Pentagon “press.” It's not impressive to answer fake questions from fake reporters. It's propaganda.

Both Jeffries and Schumer seem unable or unwilling to yield to the demands of the majority of the American people. Looks at the favorability ratings of big ideas like the public option, Medicare for all, universal pre-K, and other stuff; then look at who is promoting these openly in Congress.
Hakeem Jeffries will never lead the Dems where they need to go in order to help the people.

He will choose restoration over reform because he has been groomed by the Establishment.

I wish people could finally accept this.

Breaking: The US lost 32,000 jobs in November, far worse than expected.

Small businesses were the hardest hit.
