Amazing. Threads disabled my account with no warning & no option to appeal because apparently they think I’m a bot. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can’t even start over with a new account because it’s tied to my Instagram account - which is still fine. I have no clue what happened. #threads

Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

In my opinion the president shouldn't constantly be like "Holy shit did you guys see this?" and repeating a thing he kinda heard on TV. I don't think that should be mostly what the president does.
He issued a correction, proving why he needs to stfu and let the cops do their jobs.

It’s a a goddamned ongoing tragedy, not a reality TV show, primed for him to drop the big reveal.

Things we learn:

1. Bovino's existence is the result of chain migration, which MAGA wants to ban

2. His family arrived legally under an immigration law MAGA wants to repeal

3. His father killed a woman while driving drunk, a crime for which MAGA aims to deport immigrants

And much more. Read it.
Greg Bovino’s the star of Trump’s deportation show. We trace his roots.
As a boy, the Hollywood movie “The Border" set the course for his life. He couldn’t believe the Border Patrol agents in the movie were the bad guys. Now that he’s in charge of deportation efforts caus...

ICYMI, new piece/thread from me on the remarkable new turn in the Abrego Garcia case. Everyone should read the judge's latest ruling. It goes deep. It neatly captures the essential lawlessness and state terror of the Trump era:
Remarkable how brutal the ruling against Trump on Abrego Garcia truly is: It details flagrant and malicious abuses of power all throughout. Trump and Stephen Miller were testing their ability to spread lawless state terror. But the court held the line. 1/

Judge Paula Xinis’s ruling temporarily freed Kilmar Abrego Garcia from custody. It also savagely indicted Trump’s lawless handling of this whole affair from start to finish.

ICYMI there is a new option on the CBS News website. You can read the typically stellar journalism reported by experienced CBS journalists but then you can 'go deeper' and click over to the Bari Weiss pundit site for....some right wing propaganda. Good grief.

i’m convinced they bulldozed the east wing so fast so they could ward off this kind of opposition by basically saying “but we CAN’T delay the ballroom and just leave everything a mess like this”
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Donald Trump was sued on Friday by preservationists seeking an architecture review and congressional approval over his White House ballroom project.

I forget what show I was on, but I mentioned that I think the White House ballroom will never be built, and that surprised the host.

But it's not a hot take. Trump is incompetent. He's already fired one architect. He can't help but fuck this up.

The ongoing theme of the Garcia case is that of an authoritarian regime so unwilling to admit it was wrong that it will weaponize every act of the administrative state it controls (incl immigration judges now) to impose their lawless outcome
WOW; a DEEPLY corrupt move by the immigration courts; clear collaboration with Trump admin officials to produce a specific result with zero notice to the party and ALSO in a situation where the judge facially lacks jurisdiction; the judge had denied a motion to reopen and the case is on appeal.
Judge Xinis ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release in part bc ICE could not produce a final “order of removal” to deport him. So last night, they went out and got an immigration judge to issue one.

Now, Abrego is urging Xinis to block his redetention. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Even for me, this is pretty in the weeds, but the shift in tone in SCOTUSblog's coverage since Sarah Isgur and The Dispatch took over—more deferential to the Court, more reverential of the justices as celebrities, more credulous and stenographic across the board—has been...notable
Maybe this new blog can respond, in one of its first posts, to the argument that the term “interim docket” is a deliberately misleading attempt to minimize the (very permanent) doctrinal and real-world consequences of #SCOTUS’s rulings on emergency applications?
