Relatedly, are there actually a lot of books/mangas about killing and dethroning God, or is that just a free-floating maxim?
I feel like in the past few years I've read about a million different fantasy books about, specifically, "a prodigy from the hinterlands who is absorbed into some kind of colonial imperial bureaucracy that they ultimately decide must be burned down". But it's probably only 3-5 different books.

I think to me, after consideration, the supposed Immutability of God seems the most self-serving. Eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, fine, that's just positing the deity. All-loving or punishing, also fine, bc that's the ideological content of the worship. But immutable?

I really wish Philip José Farmer's Jesus on Mars was a great book rather than a good one; and it feels just tantalizingly close. But no cigar, just ends on a note of insubstantiality. Needed just a bit more to it.
