My builder: suggests brilliant change to plan
My architect, having spoken to my structural engineer: oh no that would involve enormous amounts of our time and fees and delays and planning and building warrants and costs and goodness me no let's just tamp down your little spark of excitement there

Stood outside for a handful of sunflower seeds and peanut combo until I realised I should have put a coat on. Robin and blue tit were sooooo close to landing, but still only coal tits. I'll get them all in the end. Also Mr Pheasant doesn't run away any more. Working up to the heron.

Mostly I reckon I'm coping well with one-room living with Zig. But now there is low winter sun streaming in and I realise in despair I am basically elbow-deep in dust and Zig hair despite me wiping and vacuuming constantly.

I guarantee you won't guess what caused Jack to get so riled two posts earlier.

It's sunny, so the washing is outside to dry. At 1.5c and apparently 99% humidity, this is definitely more in hope than expectation. But you gotta try.

Making up a new supermarket delivery order, and working my way back from essential cake ingredients to actual nutrition, as is my natural progression. It all works out in the end.

Inverse Jester has ended me.
if elon just hired an Inverse Jester (guy hired to listen to his jokes and pretend they're funny) we could solve every problem except how to keep the inverse jester from killing himself

The burn is roaring high with dirty meltwater. [Big Rock in my pond, for older viewers who might be interested, is almost submerged.]

Both my children have winter birthdays, so we are entering Supercharged Gift Season. Daughter has set up an online wish list: perfect. Son has yet to choose the two things he said he wanted last year, for which I gave him the £ because he needed to try them. Their different characters, right there.

Jimmy Cliff. Ahh man. None finer. I still think this is one of the greatest vocal performances I ever heard.

Kept a slice of lemon drizzle for me. I'm not that altruistic.

Builders have had to switch off the power for a bit. Should have made coffee first. Rookie Monday error. But at least the lemon drizzle cake for us all was baked.

Brief Encounter (1945) is entwined with Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto (1901). That's like any one of these running through it if it were made today. Vienna? Under Pressure? Endless Love? Or there's a long ol' classical list.

DON'T YOU WANT ME BABY

Time, eh?

I have a small sofa in my current one-room living arrangement with Zig. I have just said to him, out loud: "why is it that you are always comfortable and I am always squashed?"

Slightly bizarre experience of drinking a large mug of tea, looking out onto a snowfield, listening to the cricket. (Sounding less hopeless now than it was when I switched on earlier.)
