Grieving Patriot

A frustrated political scientist.

A former patriot, grieving the decay of a nation I once thought was good.

Never believe that a person who clings to power has your best interest at heart.

Ya know, when you’re heading into the 90’s and one of the most beloved celebs in the country is Jon Gotti you kinda have to expect a crime wave

Dunk on em bro.

Except it doesn’t matter to them.

Their only belief:
Trump’s America comes first. Biden’s America must be destroyed.

Read the first sentence and thought I was still on X (FKAT) and that I’d have to listen to some “culture warrior” praise Socrates as if he was aligned with their fascist views or some crazy ass take like that.

I was so ready to say “Socrates wasn’t a real person.”

Glad I’m in a sane place now.
Socrates was a classic poster. He just walked up to people and asked them what they believed in, then he’d say it was stupid and yell at them. He argued with everybody until he was legally compelled to kill himself. Not one of us has that commitment

It took me almost a year of therapy before I realized that I never told my therapist I owned a business for five-ish years starting when I was 18. I then further realized that I never mentioned it because I didn’t have the energy to discuss it.

This has been my maxim for my entire life but I didn’t realize until just now.
the maxim in Nashville is “if you get to play the Opry, you play the song that got you there.”

Not mentioned in headline or until almost half-way through the article: Netanyahu’s criticism of Qatar as being problematic in that it “is no different in essence from the U.N., from the Red Cross.” I think comments on the UN and Red Cross are much more concerning.

This is why they get away with doing this to us every single election cycle.

When I tell you that Democrats aren’t ready, that they’re acting like it’s just business as usual, I’m not kidding.
People are really saying “Our DEMOCRACY is at risk!” when this shit is happening and Biden is doing fucking nothing at all about it. This is going to kill kids. For NOTHING. We are not living in a fucking democracy. None of us even knows what that word means—we’ve never seen it.

RE: Gov. Abott defying a Supreme Court ruling:

The federal government will continue to do absolutely nothing, further solidifying the fact that MAGA can do what they want and get away with it. They’re allowing lines to be drawn, lines that show us how a modern civil war is possible in the US.
Texas really demonstrating exactly why It Does in Fact Matter if you live in a state controlled by frothing MAGAs or in a state controlled by Democrats, what with the whole “your governor may suddenly decide to secede and declare war on Mexico” thing

Correct me if I’m wrong bsky, but fighting to build more $600,000 condos in West Hollywood is not the type of affordable housing we should be concerned about right?

I ain’t never been and I never will be. But yeah, I think everyone except the people attending take them way too seriously. As Bob Odenkirk said about award shows: “It doesn’t mean anything.” Enjoy the awards shows and have fun. Just don’t take it too seriously.
As someone who went to them at seven, y’all take the Oscars way too seriously.

Hey, I live in a Democratic Republic. I’m going to vote (or not vote) for candidates based on their policies, beliefs, and actions. I will not allow any party to bully a vote out of me.

We’ve given you two Presidential election cycles to come up with something better than “you have to vote for our person in order to save democracy.” As everything continues to remain fundamentally unchanged, it’s clear to young voters that democracy is already beyond saving in this country.

This is simply a party of populism now. A hallmark of fascist parties.
