I am 55. I wander the Earth. I now call Portland, OR, my home. There is so much to explore in life. To the mountains, prairies, and high desert. Across the seas and into the depth of the oceans. Outward to the stars. Full of life and peoples.
Me after getting my new cochlear devices finally programmed today after a 9 month battle with health insurance.

My doomer-worry about AI is not that the LLMs become omnipotent and take over the world but that the wealthy and powerful use it as a means to consolidate power and marginalize or lay off skilled workers and also everything about our technological and political and social life gets worse

Worth noting, that at the time this incident happened on Jan 6, 2021, Trump was still President. This was his supporter calling for the murder of police officers. Convicted for making threats, pardoned by Trump, and now works for the DoJ. The hypocrisy of this Trump regime is Orwellian.
NEGUSE: AG Bondi, that man works for you now, right? The man in that video from J6 yelling 'kill them!' at cops. His name is Jared Wise.

BONDI: He does work for us, yes. I believe he was pardoned

NEGUSE: And you expect hard-working police officers to believe you take law enforcement seriously?

Just a reminder that the promises Elon Musk makes regarding costs/prices on virtually any of the technology produced by his companies are never kept.
Tesla is quoting $290,000 for its 500-miles electric semi truck

When Tesla first unveiled the Semi back in 2017, the company advertised a starting price of $150,000 for the 300-mile range version and $180,000 for the 500-mile variant.

Both versions ... are “designed for autonomy.”

Tesla is quoting customers $290,000 for the 500-mile Long Range version of the Tesla Semi, Electrek has learned.

This is a breathtakingly idiotic claim on the harmful effects carbon dioxide has on the environment.
Burgum: "CO2 was never a pollutant. When we breathe, we emit CO2. Plants need CO2 to survive and grow. They thrive with more CO2. So the whole endangerment thing opens up an opportunity for the revival of clean, beautiful, American coal."

Hey, Siri, define “tool”:

“The word tool is a common slang among teens nowadays, and it could describe someone lacking the ability to realize they’re just being used. It can also mean someone’s a fool with low smarts or self-esteem. The most closely related word adults would use is “idiot.”

Righto
Rep. Tony Gonzales on the FAA closing the El Paso airspace: "I've seen everything under the sun occur under the last administration, and under President Trump we are trying to clean up and fix a lot of that"

This should be a bigger story. The Trump DoJ attempted and failed to indict 6 sitting members of Congress for their political speech.
February 11, 2026 at 2:44 PM
Incompetence? No way. 🧐🤨🙄
MS NOW: "A congressional official with knowledge of the matter is telling MS NOW the cause of the shutdown of El Paso airspace is a lack of communication between the Pentagon and FAA. The official told us the FAA and DOD are 'not in clear communications with each other.'"

It’s literally required by the US Constitution to have judicial warrants to make arrests and conduct searches.
Ron Johnson: "Why would they to remove their masks? Because they want these officers exposed, they want them afraid, they don't want to carry out their enforcement actions. They want judicial warrants, which would completely neuter ICE's ability to apprehend"

What is really going on here is a tacit admission from Elon Musk that the Starship launch system does not have the capabilities or low costs he once promoted. After 11 test flights with 7 launch failures over 3 years, Starship has still not made a full orbit of Earth yet.

I gave up on Berger more than a decade ago. He clearly had lost any shred of objectivity and was basically a propagandist for SpaceX.
Eric Berger makes Fred Lambert look like a moral and intellectual giant
Watching Eric Berger (historically a Musk fanboy) struggle with the revelation that Musk is a fake engineer conman white supremacist never loses its entertainment value

It’s been over 4 years since the Fall of Twitter. Since the X Empire. Where is Charles, Meg, and Calvin when we need them? Someone activate the Tesseract. Calling Ms Whatsit, Mrs Who, and Mrs Which. We have Xs to cross out.

Hear that? That’s the sound of a million Musk Bros crying out in anguish over the betrayal of their Overlord.
Elon Musk (you may recognize him from the Epstein files) has just given up on Mars.

Narrator: In fact, this video had nothing to do with election integrity.
BRENNAN: Do you think the president needs to apologize for the video?

REP. TONY GONZALES: It's up to the president. There's no room in the country for racism, antisemitism, socialism -- all the isms need to go. What no one is talking about is the video was about election integrity.

And that is the whole point of the SAVE Act is to suppress votes, particularly among women who as demographic tend to favor Democrats.
Schiff on the SAVE Act: "Jonathan, what you've just asked is essentially, Republicans have created distrust in the elections by making claims of nonexistent fraud, and shouldn't we use the distrust they've created in order to enact a voter suppression law?"

Just submitted my short review of The Forever War by Joe Haldeman and let’s just say there is no glow. Not even a spark. I am left wondering how this book won a Nebula Award and Hugo Award in 1975 and 1976 respectively.
