I think a lot about the Kingdom of Heaven scene where a comically exasperated Saladin explains to vassals that yes, God determines the result of battles, but He does so according to number of horses, absence of disease, availability of water. So maybe we put those things together before the battle?

i think online gambling is a cancer that is spreading throughout our society, it was a horrible mistake to de-regulate it, and we desperately need to crack down on it again

The reason I get frustrated with people who overindex on the example of Nazi Germany and treat it like a note-for-note blueprint for where we are now is that they terrify our people into making terrible decisions, or into quiescence, or, worse, suicidal hopelessness.
